Didn't argue otherwise.

But to ridicule Hibbert's defending doesn't give an accurate representation of the player he was. He lasted for 10+ years in the Premier League for a team that was often around 5th - 8th, and even as a 5 foot 7 full back, he was able to fill in at centre half on rare occasions and didn't let us down then either.

..I always thought he was very ordinary and was very fortunate to amass the fortune from football that he did. He’s not alone in that category, but like others they got by when the rewards were astronomical. I watched him lots as a midfielder coming through and actually suggested to a lower league manager that he might be worth taking a punt on as a full back.

I don’t blame Hibbert but he was nothing better than ordinary. Anyway, this is the Kenny thread and he’s probably more suited to the modern era.

Sorry I was replying to Barnfield in above post not The Reverand. !!!!!
You were ding well until you call me Barnfieldlol

The lad wasn't great defensively in fairness, but was certainly no worse than any of our other defenders. You also have to factor in he was playing against a man very much in form. Although West ham were pointless before Sunday's game, Anderson has been the one player who has been getting rave reviews in every game so far. Yes he gave JJ a torrid time on Sunday, but he's also done the same to every full back he's played against this season, which includes Bellerin and Alexander Arnold, two of the most highly regarded right backs in the premier league. I thought he didn't do too bad on the whole.

Offensively, apart from a couple of misplaced/over hit passes I thought he was very good. If Bellerin or Alexander Arnold had put in some of those crosses they'd have been singled out for praise on MOTD. We fans tend to focus on the negatives in a player, which to some extent I can understand seeing as we lost the game. But a lot of us do it when we win too.

I’m so confused. West Ham hardly put a cross in all game, and three goals had nothing to do with Kenny. Yet his defending was poor. Can’t imagine what people thought of Holgate’s defending.
I actually didn't think he was as bad as some people have suggested - although I can't bring myself to rewatch the game so it's possible that he was worse than I appreciated at the time - but there's a lot more to defending than just not being directly responsible for any goals. He got himself into a right mess of his own making at times, and looked like he was being tied in knots when Anderson ran at him. We certainly conceded a lot of territory because of his defending, which obviously affects how the game pans out, and I could hardly blame the other players for not having a lot of confidence in him due to some of the interesting decisions he made. He kept trying though to be fair to him, and some of his crosses were excellent.

Played well. Thought he was good the week before. Of all the young players, he gives me the least concerns when I see his name on the teamsheet. Not including the seasoned star Richarlison.

He gives me the least concerns.

But that’s not a compliment, more a testament to how bad Davies and DCL are.

As I said, all for giving the kids a shot, but when they stink the gaff out, keep me out.

I hope JJK getting this extended period will flourish! Prove me wrong lad, cause god knows Coleman needs some proper competition.
