Seem to be in a minority on here but I thought he played well. I gave him man of the match. Thought he did OK defensively against their most dangerous player and, overall defensively, was certainly no worse than the other 4 (including the keeper) or the 2 DMs sitting in front of them.

Going forward I thought he was our most dangerous player. Apart from the assist for the goal he overlapped very well. He and Digne put some quality balls into the box and it was the one side to our game that actually worked well yesterday. Numerous times Walcott had the chance to play him on the overlap but most often used him as a decoy and ended up losing the ball.

I know sometimes we can be guilty of blue tinted glasses when watching some of our players, and it's true I was rooting for JJ to do well. But I also wanted others like Holgate, DCL. Gana, Tosun, Lookman and Siggy to do well, and they all had absolute stinkers.
Jesus wept

Thought the same myself.

Anderson played very well for them, and I haven't watched the game back but I can think of an example where Kenny ran back and took the ball off him near the end.

Some are making out like he didn't do anything right. I disagree personally. Did well going forward too.

I didn’t watch but lots of full-backs will struggle against Felipe Anderson.
Despite West ham's poor start Anderson has been the one player getting rave reviews every week. He was decent again yesterday and Kenny had his work cut out against him, but I thought he did ok. He wasn't exactly getting laced all the time by him.

Going forward I thought Kenny was very good and put in some quality balls.

Everyone's raving about Digne on here, and he did well in fairness, but I thought he was equally as fallible as Kenny defensively and he's getting a free pass for some reason.

Thought Holgate was half decent first half, albeit he struggled with the strength of Arnautovic. but second half was as bad as I've ever seen him. Wasn't impressed by Zouma either.

Agree completely.

Some proper tarts on here that have to gonthe extreme when it doesnt go their way, its really sad. They need to man up ffs.

First game of the season in a new and already young back line.

He is doing fine.

I thought he did ok yesterday. Up against a lad who cost over £45 million and wasn't made to look too out of his depth at all. When you compare to what Holgate suffered by Arnautovic who he couldn't get a kick off.

Going forward he threw a number of good balls in as well. Overlapped cleverly.

Whether he's good enough medium to long term is up for question, but he did ok.

he just wasn't very good. He might make it in the future but lacking at the moment....in other words we should have someone much better there currently. He is one of the few youngsters given playing time but the same as the other youngsters doesn't bring much to us. He was a back up yesterday and that is what he will be for a good while.

His interview comments sound rather happy for someone who had a shocker in a woeful home defeat.

This squad as a whole would be best keeping their mouths shut after they perform badly because their talk is cheap and hollow given how many people they've let down over the last 3-4 years.

The third goal. He and Zouma were like 18 yards apart when the dreadful Holgate was dragged out of his position. Kenny should move in to cover Holgate’s mistake as Anderson was too far away from threating Pickford. I don’t think relying on a Championship level player as backup to Coleman is a good idea. We need to sign a good starting level rb to complete with Coleman.

I'm with you mate. He wasn't perfect but what mistakes he did make he made up for with his pace. Had a couple misplayed passes, but all in all he was very good going forward, and nothing he did resulted in a goal. I don't understand the criticism especially considering Seamus has been pants this year so far.

He's not physically developed enough to cope with the Prem yet in my opinion. Same goes for Holgate. Both of them get made to look like little boys at times. Give each of them a couple of years and they'll be decent.

Look at John Stones for example. He was 21 in his last season with us, same as Kenny and Holgate are now, and was still pretty slight and getting thrown out of the way on occasion. Compare that to what he's like now, he's just massive.
