Coleman is the starter, Holgate is an option (injured) Godfrey was also brought in as an option there (one good game one bad) and Kenny was retained.

So we DID address it. We just didn't address it the way you (and others no doubt) wanted us to...

Relying on a 32yr old who struggled last yr is NOT addressing anything. It's like making sure the deckchairs are lined up on the titanic as it sinks. He was never going to last the season and the fact you are listing centre halves as back up shows we didn't address it

Are you purposely avoiding the part where I said we needed a whole new midfield?

We had adequate cover for the position. The were bigger issues to be addressed, the RB position was addressed just not to the level you wanted it to be.

if we had a choice between what positions we could recruit for as a priority and decided we had to leave RB as is for now so we could cover other areas then yeah I’d say we addressed it, but as the previous poster maybe not the choice you would have made

I don’t think it’s as simple as the people complaining are making out. I don’t think we just decided...yeah RB we love all our options. I think we just went for other priorities first. If we sorted RB maybe we’d not have one of Doucoure or Allan and would be looking at Siggurdson as a bloody guaranteed starter

We bought a centre back which we needed who can fill in at right back, everyone was saying we needed a centre back, we also lost two of them through injury before we signed him. We got three midfielders, all of which were needed, and a promising left back, oh and a goalkeeper who we needed too.

What exactly am I making excuses for? What purpose would I have to do that? Just telling it how it is. We cant change everything in one go.

I hope we see him and Davies together. I want to see who is faster. I wonder if our academy is poorly run. Most players that have come straight through academy to get games with first team are one paced slugs apart from Gordon.

Davies, Kenny and Pennington are the ones i recall but im sure im forgetting some. We bought DCl and Holgate remember. Liverpool u23s all appear to be rapid and young athletes.

Wanted to give him every chance in the world but I honestly can't remember the last time he stood out as having played well for us. Last season Schalke were an utter shambles and it's a mostly rubbish league anyway, he hasn't come back looking any better. Sidibe for all the criticism was honestly a better squad option.

His first game back from injury give him a chance as if Coleman is injured with that Hammy we might need him TBH I thought out of a bad bunch at the back he defended okish plus 2nd half put a few good crosses in ........In a poor performance all round elsewhere.......

All Unsworth garbage

To be fair, Unsworth can't exactly make them faster. Both Davies and Kenny look like well coached footballers to me, that's actually part of the problem I think. They've graduated from the academy as good footballers who have been given a good footballing education and taken on board everything they've been told. That's great for them and reflects really well on their coaches. I saw somebody saying a few pages ago that Kenny looks like he's doing all the right things, but he's just not good enough to actually pull them off. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually the case for the best prospects. If you look at Alexander Arnold for example, he doesn't look anything like as well coached as Kenny, he's just about a thousand times more naturally talented. Some players have got it and some players haven't, and unfortunately I don't think Kenny has.
