Jonjoe Kenny

I'm happy with that - under no illusions the kid is ready to start for us.
But the plan is for those roles to rotate in time.
Jonjoe Kenny should have nothing to do with it. He goes when his contract ends.
Some here are under the illusion is he's the next Paulo Maldini.

They are in for a terrible shock.

Coleman is the captain and wont easily be shoved one side.

I actually think reading what Patterson said on arrival that he is being bought as much as a stand in at LB as mush as RB.

I have seen as much of him as I have Mykolenko. Zero. So I don't think he's a world-beater.
But I'm 100% certain he'll be better on average than JJK or Holgate at RB.
I like the profile of the player, gives us a nice young core along with Godfrey, DCL, Gray, Gordon, Branthwaithe and Mykolenko.
Central Midfield looks empty though.

Patterson will be Coleman's understudy.

Coleman can't play twice a week anymore so they are both going to play. Coleman's career will be prolonged by this because his legs have gone and he has been massively overworked.

Patterson will be the first choice by next August though. I have very little doubt on that. But you need 2 full backs on either side, something we have not had in a very long time.

Looks good on paper. I have misgivings about inexperience...especially PL inexperience at FB...that's why Patterson in / Coleman out sounds fanciful to me.

I would keep him as back up for Patterson. I honestly thought he improved 100% 2nd half on Sunday and started to link up well with Gordon prior to getting subbed. He played a pretty solid game against Chelsea too without really standing out. He gets so dogs abuse on here. I think anyone reading that would have their confidence dented just a bit.

Never really had a run of games for me. Not saying he's good enough cos the managers see him in training...

But would've let him play a good run of games considering Coleman's nose dive to fully confirm if he's not good enough.

Signing the Jock means he's done at the club though.

I don't think anybody is expecting him to be world class immediately. I think he probably won't come into the team immediately.
But, it is foolish to wtite off a young lad before he has kicked a ball for us.

I haven't. I've said he offers something going forward, but he's a chronic defender.

That is the issue.

It's a massive leap that I don't think people grasp.

Played a handfuls of 90mins against Moldova, Lyon and some Sunday League teams.

Suddenly he's premiership ready.

I watched him defensively getting battered against the Faroe Islands - it was overlooked in a game where he set up the winner.

Nowhere near ready for this level.
