Thought he handled himself well and seemed to know what he was doing going forward

Would like to see him play a full 90 to get a feel for his overall game

thought he should have been given a go as soon as seamus was injured, as he's a like for like replacement and it would have given us a better idea if we needed to splash loads of cash on a right back in the summer, or trust him. But i think koeman likes his defenders to be a tad more conservative compared to martinez and may have gone for the safer option.

But i remember us losing a dreadful game against swansea in the league cup a few years back and garbutt was brilliant, whipping in all sorts of great balls, so best not to go too far with the praise just yet.

Included - along with Lookman and DCL - in the England U20 World Cup squad - flying to Japan tomorrow. No more minutes this season for JJK at RB? Suprised we are letting all of them go so early as all three are now in the matchday 18.

Thats a blow. Was hoping to see him start.

Think we all wanted to see more of DCL on the left wing too..

Ronald Koeman says Jonjoe Kenny has earned his first-team chance - and he was pleased with the young full-back’s application in his short substitute appearance against Swansea City. Kenny has trained regularly with the senior players this season and has featured in the last seven matchday squads since Seamus Coleman suffered a broken leg whilst on international duty for the Republic of Ireland.

However, Saturday’s fixture at the Liberty Stadium was the first time Koeman has called upon Kenny from the bench, with the 20-year-old defender introduced in the closing stages to offer the Toffees more attacking threat on the right flank.
Kenny is captain of the Club’s Under-23s side and his only previous taste of Premier League action was in the final match of the 2015/16 campaign when he appeared as a substitute against Norwich City.

“The boy has been working hard to get his opportunity,” Koeman told evertontv. “I thought in this game, in the last 15 to 20 minutes, he was a more offensive right full-back than Mason.

“Jonjoe’s crosses can be dangerous and I thought we might have got a goal out of one of his crosses.”

He did very well going forward and fully deserves a crack at starting the next two games, regardless of how well he does against Watford.

One cautionary note I'd make though: he came on when we had no defending to do. Against a class team well in the game it'll be interesting to see if his positioning is up to snuff (Coleman's certainly wasn't when he came into the team when he arrived) and how does focussing on his main objective of defending impact on his getting forward.

I'm intrigued.

i'd be looking to start him and lookman at least

we do tend to build up our young players and knock them down v quickly..

He needs someone ahead of him who can help him defensively to begin with. Lennon would have been ideal for that.

It's not much of a sample size but I think last season against Norwich he was defending his flank against Redmond who is not a bad premier league player.
