He's done alright defensively in a few games and awfully in others. On the ball he has been poor and that's what makes me doubt his future as a top level player. Modern day full backs need to be able to bomb on, right now he doesn't look capable of doing much more than punting the ball down the line.

You can teach the defensive side of the game to players (look at Coleman) but you can't really develop the natural ability with the ball at your feet. Maybe he will grow in confidence, hope he does.

He's shown he can do that for England youth...however he's been a regular for England and used to the players around him (same group have come up together) a bit like Barcelona players having an almost telepathic understanding when they come through in a group to the first team...

With the first team hes been chucked into the deep end next to a disaster of a defence and no attacking player in front of him to push the opposition full back...its been Lennon at the beginning...so the opposition have been able to come straight at him as theres limited danger.

If he had Kanchelskis in front of him then clearly he'd have an outball and wouldn't be seeing waves of attacks.

As I said earlier. I dont agree with any of that either.

I concur.

If he was foreign we'd all be desperate for the club to get rid. Same as Davies and Calvert Lewin.

If those 3 were members of Brazils u20 world cup winning squad then I highly doubt it. Because hes English he's getting more stick.

Since when did being a fan of Everton mean you can't say that you don't rate a player? I thought Barkley was the dog's bollocks but didn't think anyone on here was any less of an Evertonian for saying otherwise.

I also agree with this...all about opinions.

When I saw him for England youth he looked a far better player technically the he has done in our first team so far

The movement in our first team is almost non existent plus he's never had a proper partner alongside or in front of him. It was noticeable how his game improved on the few occasions Holgate played inside him.

Yeah, i noticed that, when he had Holgate And Davies in the team with him he was (quite naturally) more comfortable as he knew their style of play. I personally think it is grossly unfair to pass judgement on any young player who has been played this season and that goes for Keane too. We have been beyond attrocious all season, and all the kids must have had their confidence knocked by the cowards they have had to share a pitch with and the hapless tactics they have been expected to follow!

He's definately got the makings of a solid full back. But the problem for him is Coleman is an outstanding player and he's not going to displace him in the near future.
It's unfortunate but Kenny is probably going to have to move on to get the first team football he deserves or he'll stagnate hanging round for the chance of the odd cup game as Colemans understudy.

I'm giving kids a chance to come back better. This has been a disgusting season and it's not their fault.

Get them involved last 3 games. No reason not to.
There is one reason: the fans will rip into him for any mistake no matter how small. Might be worth waiting till next season when hopefully the touchline walrus will be gone and we'll have a proper manager in who coaches properly and can get the young players in a coherent system.

One big reason. Two words. Sam Allardyce. Just wont happen mate. Martina has been on subs bench the last 7/8 matches. Its a joke. A bad one.
