Repeat what i said in the transfer thread:

Martinez clearly believes our starting 11 is strong and I'd agree with him (possibly needing this fabled 'no 10' and a goalie). What we lacked last year was cover in key areas - most noticeably on the wing, at centre back and times at centre midfield. With Mirallas, Barkley, McCarthy, Pienaar, Osman and Stones out at key points we really didn't have the depth that we required. It's plain to see our plan is to bring in quality individuals that can rotate in as necessary.

I have no problem with Evans. He hasn't had a good season but he can play the ball, has been in title winning squads and played well for them. He is comfortable with the ball, and experienced enough to help with tutoring our young defenders. He may not be an exciting signing but he will provide ballast in the dog days of winter.

Look, he can't be worse than Alcaraz.

The only 2 times I've really watched Evans was when he got stuck right in on Shelvey I think it was at Anfield, I enjoyed that moment as Shelvey got sent off and I don't think Evans did, nice bit of snide.

2nd time I think was NI away to Portugal and he was superb. If it wasn't Portugal it was someone else but it was a big result for them and he played well.

If Martinez thinks that's what we need and he's the best out there for what we need and value for money then I will get right behind the fella until his first misplaced pass then I'm gonna booooo the absolute shyte out of the manc reject thinking he can come here and get splinters from our bench instead of Utds the cheeky little injury prone beaut.

I have often entertained the possibility that @Moomin is Martinez's GOT doppelganger. It is the only way to reconcile Moomin's possession of such 'phenomenal' ITK-ness. I was going to make a joke about him not being good enough that Stoke or Newcastle were in for him. That youtube video does show some good passing skills from him though so I've warmed up a bit to this deal.
