its depressing when the highlights video from what would be our third choice CD has more forward passes in it than our entire midfield managed in a whole season.
 

This is the first time I can remember not being excited by a possible signing. 8m for a player who has 12 months left on a contract and has never commanded a place a Man U. I can't help but feel Utd are laughing at us for paying this fee if true. Would be interesting to see what Man U fans views are.
 
I think he's a pretty good player and would be an ideal player to add depth to the squad. However, £8M is ridiculous for a bench-warmer defender at Everton.
 

People saying he's going to be a bench warmer are just wrong. He's immediately 3rd CB and 2nd RB. Does no one remember last season? Players get hurt/can't play every match.

Good point. I do hope we don't have the massive injury problems next season though.

There's a lot of talk about value for Evans, I agree £8 mil is quite steep but it's probably about right in this market. Centre backs in particular are at a premium at the moment, maybe it's less fashionable or something? Even £50 million only buys you a David luiz, and looking around even those with money to spend can't seem to find two world class centre backs. I think he's solid, much more so than distinct or alcaraz last season., and is the right age to provide serious competition for jags and stones.
