A steady, sure handed performance from minute 1 to minute 90+. No charging around like Joe Hart. Get your wall and your feet sorted out for free kicks. Dont try and ping balls all over the pitch like you're Glenn Hoiddle with gloves. Keep it simple.

We need to sign Gordon Banks then Dave as that's the type of keeper you want.

The game has changed mate and so too has the modern keepers role in it. We're lucky to have him and we won't keep him beyond another couple of years unless we're able to match his own ambition on the pitch.

I dont feel like we're lucky to have him. He's what I'd class right now as good-to-average. Anyone seeing "great" here have clearly never seen a top Everton GK.

He got the ball and could easily have avoided making contact with Ings. Easily. We both know it.

Do that against one of the molly-coddled financial elite in this league and he's off the pitch with a straight red and we've got Stekelenburg in goal for three matches.

I agree. That defo is the case. The reason for criticism though isn't what he did to Ings - I couldn't give a shiny one what he did to him as long as he didn't really hurt him - it's down to judgement of distance and pace...both of where/how fast he is and the attackers position and pace. He miscalculated.

He got a bad bounce Dave. Simple as. It's as clear as day. Had he got a regular bounce he was in the right position to deal with it, and in the end showed great reactions and athleticism to clear it. I thought it was great keeping tbh.

I know its the Pickford thread but before @Joey66 says it i will let him know that Real Betis started its first game in La Liga with the mighty Joel Robles on the bench.

The Spanish Bobby Mimms now has another manager who won't pick him for the first team, its a conspiracy of some sort not to pick him.

His next club after us was going to be Real or Barca @royvernon39

More concerned about our lack of goalkeeper cover tbh....
