Pickford's profile was raised massively this summer so I'm happy he's committed long term to the club but I would be even happier if he was a top keeper. My eyes and the objective evidence clearly tell me he's not. These stats from last season show he came 17th out of 26 for save percentages.

I thought he started well here but has faded at club level since. Based on his performance thus far we over paid for him like others but he clearly has the capacity to improve and now we're wedded to him long term we can only hope he does.

Beside the fact that there's an almost uncountable number of variables that render that particular stat meaningless there's only about 4% difference between Pickford and the 3rd place.

Exactly. If some mug club from the financial elite throws £40M on the table they can have him. I suspect it wont be higher than that.

For the record, I don't think he's poor. I think he's a very good to exceptional shot stopper but I do think a large part of his game is left wanting. The world cup inflated sense of worth as well (rightly or wrongly).

As others said before, even if this is just to get a bigger fee if they wind up selling him, so be it.

Fantastic keeper,you can count on 1 hand the real mistakes hes made,despite some wanting about 5 hands,though for me i hate these deals were they already had pretty much 4 years left on there contract
