2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Pickford showed what he could do with defenders that aren't pants in front of him at the World Cup.

There isn't a goalkeeper in the world that will stop everything if opponents get put through cleanly time and time again.

The evidence suggests that he's not the problem.

Mate England’s opponents atbthe World Cup bar Croatia and Belgium were pants, let’s be honest. Belgium and Croatia both beat England too. Pickford can make decent saves but he has a lot of weak parts of his game and his arrogance is starting to piss me off , he’s making massive mistakes I games far to often this season , although the arsenal game he cannot be blamed for any of the goals

It’s astonishing that the majority of people don’t like the ‘Sky 6’ yet when players such as Maguire and Pickford commit to current non-top 6 sides they get slaughtered for having no ambition/being too good for said club/being there for money/crap anyway.

Hmm!

Pleased with this anyway - think he will improve and hopefully the rest of our squad does too

So Everton get one of their best assets locked into a 6 year contract and people find something to moan about?

When he was "for sale" post-world cup, we had no ambition, this is "the type of player we have to keep if we have any hope of future success" and as soon as he is tied down to a contract he "isn't good enough for Everton".

Regardless of your personal view of his ability, he is seen as being wanted by so-called bigger clubs, therefore in a business sense it is only sensible to have a protected status for him and his valuation.

Some people will never be happy.

I get what you're saying, absolutely, but there is more than one way of looking at things and we don't all have to be doing cartwheels.

Loads of people on here go on (and on, and on) about mentality and how we need to lose the little old Everton tag and become winners, never accepting anything other than the best. The reason we lose away at Arsenal, so the story goes, is nothing to do with us not being as good as them, it's purely and simply an ingrained attitude at the club where failure is normalised. Then, when we actively reward failure by giving a bumper new contract to a goalkeeper who conceded more goals in his first season than any keeper we've had for the last 15 years, the same people are ecstatic and tell everyone else they should be too. How does that tally up?

I'm not saying giving Pickford a new contract is a bad thing. It's fine, he's fine, but just like him, it's not amazing.

David, Jordan Pickford is currently worth £60-70m.

You may think it's ludicrous. So do I, but the two biggest deals this summer in the Prem were goalkeepers.

Also, he's an excellent goalkeeper and we are not going to be selling him, or wanting to, any time soon.

Media saying £100mil+ after the world cup...to Chelsea...carries the English premium

Everyone now and then we just totally disagree on a player.
He's real quality and I look forward to him proving you wrong my friend.

Hes class...

Says who mate?

It's astonishingly good news if that is true and confirmed.
Boss news.

One of the very best and still a pup.

Laughing at some of the criticism, I’ve lived through years of Tim Howard, nothing scares me anymore.

Top keeper and ours for the next decade hopefully.

In a squad of disasterous signings, hes one of the stars.
