2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Elaborate on the horrid mistakes he made. We know every keeper makes the odd error but you are making it sound like it's a regular occurance which you know is not true. Pickford had a good season for us and has continued that into the World Cup (not Pickfords fault he is the best English keeper) so why can't people enjoy having a good keeper instead of being tutored by some that he is not all that.

He made a lot of mistakes for us last season, how have you forgotten? Staying on his line when he should push striker coming in, or rushing out when he really shouldnt, pushing balls right into the feet of attackers inside of our box, etcetc. I would not be shocked if he made a mistake that led to, or could have led to, goals against in 1/4 of the matches he played. Remeber all those times teams pushed us, we needed a little breather when Jordan got the ball, but insted of calming the game down good’ol Picky just kicked it directly back to our opposition for them to push us some more? I remember, and it turns my belly.
If this doesnt sound like Jordan to you, Im worrid you might have watched the wrong team all last season thinking they were Everton.
Just read through this thread mate, until his good WC people were split on him. There is a good keeper in there, but so many are blinded by him being young and british. Like I said in another thread, we should have gotten Rui Patricio as a batteling first choise for Pickford. Rui is the better keeper, and would keep some pressure off of Jordan while he keeps improving.

It's astonishing, some folk are never happy. Let's just say he's crap, we should sign billy the fish or summat the only goalie in the northeast worth buying.

The biggest mistake Pickford has made is attempting to save the well struck 15 yd curling free shot against Belguim. If he stood rooted to his line he would have got less Flak. I am of the opinion that he did well to get a finger to it and would call it unlucky. Agility got him that close to it.

So you literally expect him to be perfect, good god, he's no chance of ever pleasing you. He had a good season, there's no denying it, despite your miserable best efforts.

Clutching straws mate. That is so weak an argument. You also have to take into account that people split on him are GOTTERS. GOTTERS like to put the boot in on good players for reasons I still don't know.

How did you work out that nonsense logic. A shot is a shot not all keepers can save certain shots if they are not good enough and not all players can get every shot on target but a shot on target going in the top corner is just that regardless of who shoots.

Its obviously a lot easier to keep a clean sheet against Sweden than Spain, but I guess you dont agree?
If I somehow fire a ball into the left corner, that shot would be as dangerous as a shot from Ronaldo fired into the left corner?

Not at all. I expect him to not rush off his line when its not needed, I expect him to stay on his line when needed, I expect him to not deflect balls into positions more dangerous for us, I expect him to be able to read a game and I expect him to be able to hit our players with his kicking.
Thats not asking your keeper to be perfect at all, thats expecting him to do basic keeper tasks.

Too many people seem to almost want players to fail just so they can say they were right.

He was immense yesterday and made me proud he was as an Everton player, same feeling as Lineker in '86 and Rooney in 2004.
One in the eye for all the RS who laughed at his fee last summer.
