2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Same height as Neville Southall

I actually thought he was taller than Nev.

But outfield players in general are much bigger these days hence the argument that smaller goalkeepers are at a disadvantage they were never at back in the 20th.

Back then the goalie was invariably the biggest man in the team....that is not so much the case nowadays.

That's way too far up the drama scale for you...I'm actually surprised. We'll be fine.

I dont need that mate....just a competent GK.

Still, he did make a save in that game. It all balances out like that.

The same Nick Pope, that`s getting kept out of a Burnley team in free fall by Mr Head and Shoulders lol

More smilies.

I wish I could see the funny side of what's happened today like.

I wish I was level headed enough to see it doesn't matter what Pickford done.

Pickford did nothing wrong - afterall, his save earlier cancelled out that catastrophe in the last second of the game.

That's alright then.

A gutting 1-0 loss to that 'kin lot can be rationalised now. He's a great keeper etc etc etc Just hope he bounces back for the equally massive game against Newcastle etc etc etc.

Dave just shut the hell up for once in your miserable life, you have the gall to call Pickford arrogant and having an ego when you're the biggest egotist going

I can’t believe the knee jerk reactions on here.

Yes, we’re all annoyed that we didn’t get away with a hard earned point today, but Jordan made one mistake. It’s a shame but it’s a fact that when a keeper makes an error it often costs a goal.

However he played well up to that point. If he hadn’t saved from Shaqiri no one would have blamed him, but many would instead be bemoaning the missed chances and blaming the likes of Mina for not taking their chance and scoring so that we could have still walked away with a point.

Our keeper made one error. He was clearly worried by the looping ball and rightly thought it best to get a hand to it rather than hope it clears the bar and hits the roof of the net. If he leaves it and it bounces straight back off the bar and Origi scores you’d still blame him.

He tried to put it out, got it wrong and unfortunately it cost us. He appears to have apologised to his teammates and that shows a certain amount of the humility that too many on here don’t think he has.

Get a grip....it’s one error and he doesn’t make many.

Perhaps there are still some “fans” who miss the good old days of Mimms, Gerard, Wright and Myhre.

Thankfully for the rest of us, things have moved on. Pickford is the best keeper we have had since the early 90’s when mistakes started to creep into the great Nev’s game as age, and weight, caught up with him.

.... Maybe I'm wrong, but my first impression was he was trying to keep the ball in, so he could fire off a quick counter-attack. Needless to say, it was a horrendous mistake.

Anyways, Pickford has saved us a hell of a lot more points than lost us since he came here. Fantastic keeper, he is still young (for a GK) and he will learn from this, and in time he will iron out those errors. Chin-up lad, onwards and upwards.

Nick Pope wouldn't have done what that thick get did.

Glad you're happy with the derby loss though. I see you have the smilies out, so that's ok then.

Agree mate. Should get him in

Our standard is our motto and if we have any ambition we will sign Burnleys second choice keeper.

Tell that to Neville Southall, Peter Shilton and Gordon Banks. The goals were the same size in those days as far as I know. Those 3 would be classed as world class back in the day.

Did you miss the part about “the modern game”?

Because thise goalkeepers you mention would be dwarfed by both their own centre halves and the opposition centre forwards in the modern game.

That was more a crap shot by the Swiss Oompa Loompa than a good save, IMHO...hence why I haven't brought it up. He didn't have much to do all game and ballsed up at the end. It can't be a habit, most of us rational folk understand that. Keep on fightin' the good fight. UTFT
