Double your money offer comes in.

Would you cash in?

Not a chance, we need him and to replace far too difficult, its not always about making money, be different if he does a Lukaku on us and leaves us with no choice to sell but right now everything is good for at least one possition in the side, just need to rest of the park to fall in line now

All depends on who Brands has lined up to reinvest the money on. He would not be doing his job if he didn't consider it.

Selling our best asset shouldnt part of his job, selling the deadwood yes, he has enough to do without having to find another keeper

That is such a narrow view though. We have problems all over the pitch. Whether it be bang average to not good enough to past it players.

FFP rules mean we can't City our way to progress. So either we hit big with a couple of young players (see Kane and Dele), or we do the smart business if silly money comes in.

We did the right thing not selling Stones, because it appeared we possibly were heading in the right direction. Well it all went pear shaped.

Dave Seddon Lancashire Evening Post Saturday 07 July 2018

Former Preston North End goalkeeper coach Alan Kelly has wished Jordan Pickford the best of luck as he goes in search of a World Cup semi-final place with England today. Pickford worked closely with Kelly when he spent five months on loan with PNE in 2015. That loan spell, in which he made 27 appearances, was a key stage of his development. It was the highest level of club football he had played at, while Pickford also made his England Under-21s debut when with PNE – against the United States at Deepdale.

Pickford, 24, was one of the heroes of England’s win over Colombia on Tuesday night. He saved a penalty in the shootout, allowing Eric Dier to net the winner. England play Sweden this afternoon in the last eight in Samara. Kelly told the Post: “Jordan is a great keeper and a strong character too. “He took a bit of stick after the Belgium game last week but that won’t have upset him.

“Against Colombia, Jordan made two fantastic saves. There was the one right at the end when he pushed the shot around the post. “If that had gone in, it would have been goal of the tournament. Jordan flew like a salmon to reach the shot but it hardly got showed again as Colombia scored from the corner. The penalty save was a good one, it was a strong arm and obviously so important.

"All the credit for Jordan being the England keeper is down to him. If it’s said that others and myself have helped him, that’s fantastic. But Jordan has had the sheer willpower to get to be England’s No.1. I think England can win against Sweden – the Swedes are organised and disciplined but there’s nothing to fear.” Kelly, now employed by Everton working with their keepers at Under-23s level and younger, went to the World Cup twice with the Republic of Ireland.

Correct, we have big problems, and it will take more then one or two windows to sort, but to start again on the one place that is now sorted is the worst thing we can do. No amount of crazy money for one player is going to help, besides for the squad, we tried the throwing money at it thing last season, it never works.
I think we did the right thing selling Stones when we did and got top money for him, but its not so easy with a keeper, City it took a while to find a decent one and Liverpool have had no luck for years, weve got lucky with Pickford with Howard going at the same time they went down, last thing we want to do is ruin that good fortune with a pointless sale

You have to keep your best players and build not sell at the first sniff. Look at Spurs they only started progressing when they were shrewd and kept their best players and built the squad around that.

Look I don't want to sell him but if Brands gets a £60 mil bid AND he has a replacement he rates at a much lower valuation that he is confident he can get it would make no sense to not sell. He could then use the rest of the money on other players he rates possibly solving 3 places in the squad by selling 1.

I can see where your coming from mate but i just cant see it working, selling Lukaku didnt work but we had to sell him, to sell a player who dont have to sell for any amount of money from a football buisness sense would be just wrong, he really is our only star player.

They did but that was only after it was clear he wanted to leave and they got maximum fee. He was their last big sale and since Potch came in they have progressed year on year with a different strategy.

They bought Sissoko and Jannsen though..
Both utter gash and cost about £50m.
Just sayin like.

I guess that's where I differ on this. I don't view him as a star. He is a potential star for me. As I've said a few times now he's one clanger away from persona non grata status. We have no idea how he would recover from that.

Anyway as I said I don't want to sell him, but Brands would be foolish to not listen if silly money came in.
