Who would you suggest that's better than England's current No.1?
Any GK in the top half of the table and any GK in the Bundesliga and any GK in the majority of Italian and Spanish teams.

It's laughable to believe anyone thinks - despite the mountain of evidence - this clown cant be bettered.

Hes a talented lad and i would have been a big advocate of him before he came and made up when he did.

What is worrying is he hasnt progressed or been anchored by experience, you can tolerate mistakes in a young goal keeper if they learn, im concerned he is not learning. Ive lost count of the amount goals from distance in the low corner with him of the line positioned at a bad angle, teams have started to target this, we saw it at the weekend.

There is no point conceding 2 or 3 and then start pulling of class saves, they need to be focused and consistent over the whole game.

Im also concerned about his focus and mental ability, similar to Ross all the talent in the world, but none of the sense or maturity to make sure that talent is applied to experience, knowledge and sense in developing consistent effective performances and progressing to reach the appex of his natural talent.

Worse thing that ever happened to him was getting to the semi with England and the profile that created for him maybe even in his own head.

This is why no one takes you seriously Dave. You come out with utter drivel like this.

Of course there are better goalkeepers out there but to suggest all those keepers are better than Pickford is ridiculous.

Top half of the PL = 10 keepers
Bundesliga = 18 keepers
Italy = 20 teams (so most would be circa 17 keepers)
Spain = 20 teams (so most would be circa 17 keepers)

So what you're saying is that you would see an improvement in the Everton defence if any of those 62 keepers were signed in the summer to replace Pickford?

Have a word with yourself Dave.

If he's not learning and improving then I'd be looking at the coaching side of things. What is being done on the training ground to help him learn and improve? IF he's doing the same things over and over again then he's going to make the same mistakes. He needs coaching on how to concentrate more, how to position himself better, how to read the game. If he had the potential then the right kind of coaching would have brought the best out of him.

Yeah i think you have to be open minded, id root and branch analyse what going on because hes been shaky, all key stakeholders in his game should be reviewed. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance and im not always sure Pickford walks the right side of it. Coming out in the media and calling out pundits is an example. He needs to be more humble and focused he needs constructive criticism and apply that reflection and analysis to his game.

Ive thought for a while he would benefit from being dropped, i would have done it after the Liverpool game last year. The lessons he needs to learn are off the pitch in my opinion and on the mental and self regulation side of the game.

Im saying all of the above, in the context of being a big Pickford fan, you can go back to threads while he was at Sunderland and he was my pick to replace Howard, i want him to be the Keeper he can be, but he definitely needs managing to get there, id hate to see him flip flop consistently for his career like he has for a couple of seasons now.

A defence with no confidence in their GK who barley makes an effort to command his own box? That defence?

It's not as if there isn't a ton of evidence that Pickford, regardless of the defence, is an incompetent GK.

The jury is in: he's hopeless and we need better. Much better.
I’m not saying he’s beyond criticism. I’m saying he’s far from the weakest link in the squad.

Against Chelsea we had a right back playing who looked as if he didn't know what he was doing.
We had to midfielders in Gomes and Sigurdsson who couldn't tackle, run or pass.
We had Bernard who looked like an under 12 playing adult football.

Yet, people are on here criticising our motm.
If it wasn't so predictable it would be unbelieveable.

Do you think he should have kept their first goal out?

Good goalkeeper is our Wearside lad. But all goalies need someone breathing down their necks to keep them at the top of their game. We do not have one. A place in the team should not be guaranteed to anyone, unless you are world class which he is not. Carlo will probably get a decent backup and then we shall see.

I don't see how a guy sat on the bench is going to improve Pickford's performance. How many goals do you think Pickford has let in this season because he knows he's not going to get dropped? Is Pickford's lack of concentraction due him standing between the sticks singing "I'm undroppable tra la la la la"?
