Top keepers win you games. Poor keepers lose you games. Unfortunately I put him in the latter. It’s critical the centre halves have faith in the keeper as well and I’m not sure they do.

Match winning saves agaionst watfrod & wolves, match saving saves at Palace & a huge save at 0-0 when the team was under pressure against Sheff Wed.

Been off it the last few matches.

The Mahrez fk - he should have done better. But equally, there aren't many players who hit a free-kick like that with that pace and whip into that pinpoint area to bounce just before it gets to Pickford. City have about five of those players, like :D

Anyway, he was superb at the start of the season so hopefully he gets back to it.

@catcherintherye I would say mate, Ederson was playing in the CL and helping Benfica play for numerous titles.

Pickford was at Sunderland.

I agree with your post in a sense but Ederson was better than Pickford three seasons ago. He's a brilliant goalkeeper. Pickford is very good but has a lot of room for improvement.

He's far from the one to blame for our poor form (I know you're not suggesting he is btw) though obviously he is part of it.

He’s not to blame for our poor form, but he’s to blame for the City defeat.

Pickford reminds me a bit of Gordon West. Both great shot-stoppers; both iffy on crosses; and both quirky and so liable to do some mad things.

The one against Deeney granted which was one main chance in the whole game, but I am not convinced by his presence in goal. This situation reminds of the Tim Howard in his final season. I was cringing every time we conceded a corner or free kick within 30 yards of goal. You maybe convinced but the goal against Sheff Utd at the near post he bottled it.

So, I just have to ask the question, sorry. Do you not think he is a borderline/ifnotcompletely/world class shot stopper, but just about every other aspect of his job is suspect?

The resources being wasted doesn't mean that they aren't limited. And ours are limited. Manchester United have limited resources. Barcelona have limited resources. The only team that might have no limit is City. Everyone else has some level of a limit and has to make the decisions to maximize those. To me it doesn't matter if Pickford is the 4th or 10th best keeper because the amount of resources it will take to move up a material amount to the level of Ederson or De Gea is more than the benefit to the team that the improvement in goalkeeping will make.

Our midfield is a shambles, we have two CBs, no real depth at fullback, no replacement plan for Coleman, questionable young strikers and occasionally sub par creative play. And our manager might be crap. I'd spend the money on all of those things before I started thinking about replacing Pickford.

Also I've seen some shouts for Lossl to play. He isn't going to, but if he does you all need to promise to blame every single goal from outside the 6 yard box on him too.
At least give Lossl ago.

I'm not blaming him for anything mate. I just don't think a single player in our squad should automatically play every week. If a player makes a mistake or isn't doing there job maybe it's time to try someone else.
I think pickford is a quality keeper but he has not been at his best for a while thats all.

I agree generally and if I really thought Pickford was struggling in a major way then I would agree with going to Lossl. But I just don't see it. I think we are doing the thing supporters like to do where goals conceded that aren't easily attributed to a defender go against the keeper and poor attacking showings go against the striker. There is more happening most of the time.
