He had a Pickford game today. Made a couple of great saves, a couple of decent ones, beaten at the near post for a goal, made a silly mistake and then had an odd reaction to the mistake. Thats him all over. I think Everton are a tough crowd to play in front of when thats what you do though. We tend to focus on the mistake, not the positive.

I also if the tongue out thing is just a nervous reaction on his part?

...I get all that and I don’t focus on his reaction to a mistake, but outwith the series of errors I’m not seeing a keeper in command. He’ll make fine saves but I expect a keeper to make fine saves. He’s ineffective dealing with the basics.

A good keeper makes the basics look easy, a really good keeper makes the difficult look easy.

Pope is the latest flavour of the month favourite. Keepers tend to be top of their game in their late 20s /30s when they get to be mature human beings. Pope would get slaughtered on here after his second cock up.

Thing is what is a good keeper these day? Schmicheal at Leicester is poor as we have just seen, De Gea mistake after mistake...etc what's the standard, if a good keeper is available there are bigger clubs then us looking

1) Saving shots - JP is the worst at this in the league
2) Not making errors - JP is the second worst at this in the league
3) Commanding your box - JP is a flapper - yes his confidence might come back, but at the moment he couldnt catch a cold
4) Distribution - Average at best these days
5) Calm organisation from the back - JP really falls down here, the back 4 are bereft of confidence as a result of his poor command of his area
6) Mental strength - he follows errors with another one far too often - the best make errors but forget about it
7) A Leader - JP is a joker, little professionalism, poor behavior off field and stupid comments in the press.

That sums it up
