Henderson mistake for a goal against blades midweek, Guita and Lloris both howlers last wknd, Mendy rash giving away a pen against us and Schmeichal parried Richys into the bottom corner. All them guys have been well talked about on here.
I just think there are very few good keepers atm that are consistently top drawer at the basics. Alisson/Pope/Leno/Martinez for me the best in the league, Ederson maybe in there as well although has a mistake in him that gets pushed under the carpet due to his distribution.
The days of out and out shot stoppers are gone and we highlight the mistakes without really noticing how much keepers distribution/positioning has changed over the past 10 years.
Would be good to know how other supporters rate their own keepers.

All of those keepers make saves. Pickford isn't making enough saves to have errors. Like any. As soon as he makes errors he goes to the bottom of the list.

And for me Pickford's kicking has been really poor for awhile now.

No, im not a fan of Pickfords and i agree his kicking had been poor as last year. I just dont see who we replace him with that would make a huge difference to us. Good keepers are like gold dust so teams wont sell, especially to rivals as in the case with Romero. Even getting him come summer, if he hasnt been able to get a look in at Manure with the performances of De Gea over the past 2 seasons then i cant see him setting the world alight with us either.

Anyone. The first name on the list is Robin Olsen.

Keepers aren't valuable at all. Romero was United not wanting us to be better and not because they value him. If it was Palace or Swansea they'd have sold him no questions asked.

Must have imagined that save at the end...
And those 3 goals Chelsea scored, he definitely should have saved those.... wait, he did

And Olsen’s kicking was no better when he played, kicking it out of play etc

Far too harsh on Pickford

He's been saved by shots hitting the post on his errors in both games. The best game as an example in Pickford's favor is Leeds as he was legitimately good on that day. But at the same time he still managed to concede from outside the box.

He just isn't good. You can see it with your eyes. You can look up numbers too. Nothing says he's a reasonable keeper.

From where have you seen with any confidence Olsen drastically improving us? Or Romero? Good keepers are massively valuable hence why its near impossible to get one.
If you mean throwing big money at an up and coming keeper from lower levels as clubs will bite our hand off for the cash we've already done that.

I agree he’s not good enough, but what alternatives are there? Because by these standards, no keeper is good enough. Maybe 1 keeper in the prem is... watch any game and every keeper makes an error.

We’re not going to sign Neuer, so stop expecting Neuer.

It isn't impossible to find one. More than half the league has one. Some have two. We are one of the few that do not.

Just to list them: Alisson, Ederson, Leno, Lloris, Gazzaniga, De Gea, Henderson, Romero, Mendy, Schmeichel, Patricio, Martinez, Areola, Meslier, Johnstone, Darlow, Dubravka. Off the top of my head I'd take any single one of these over Pickford without a moment of hesitation.

So that's also why I think Olsen could be better. Because basically everyone is.

These standards are not high at all lol. Don't drop a cross every week is not a high standard. Don't concede the most goals from outside the box in the league is not a high standard.
