It would be nice, but apparently they don't really exist. If people complain about Pickford, they'd complain about nearly any keeper in the league bar maybe 1 or 2
What's amazing is it is really the opposite. I mean I want Olsen to play badly and I expect his ceiling to be bang average. But if he was average and didn't have screw ups I'd take that. So really that's more than one or two right?

Allison. But you'd be fuming at his distribution, he regularly passes straight out of play or straight to the opposition and he is partial to brain farts, they just don't get highlighted. And Ederson, but the same.

Every other keeper and you'd hate them just as much as Pickford.

It's going to start sounding like a broken record but if you're looking at it and saying Allison and Ederson have a similar level of distribution to Pickford then you're just not properly seeing how bad Pickford is playing.

I'd have Joel Robles back.

You get annoyed when Pickford plays bad passes, they play just as many bad ones. They're kicking out to De Bruyne, mane and Salah, these players can change a game in a second from anywhere on the pitch and are the best in world football, of course you're going to look better passing to them rather than Iwobi. Sure they are better at distribution, but you're just not watching them if you don't see their consistent, multiple times per game, kicking out of play and straight to the opposition in dangerous positions (which is why you hate Pickford's distribution remember)

You're right Allison and Ederson make mistakes, but there are two very very big differences.

Both of them take risks based on reward and have been goal creators since they arrived at their respective clubs, Pickford is not this.

Secondly, and this is key, they make a mistake and they get over it and crack-on. Pickford sees the red mist and one error inevitably leads to another and a flap at a cross.

All keepers make errors, those who can move on are the good ones. JP cannot move on.

I hate Pickford's distribution because when he goes long he often puts it so far away from DCL that the best aerial forward in the league can't even contest it. It has nothing to do with it going to opponents.

And I don't see why it matters who they're kicking to? Hitting the player is hitting the player. Pickford is missing his target. It doesn't matter if it is De Bruyne or Niasse he should hit him.

I really don't expect distribution to be perfect but I think Olsen has been better in his games. And it is secondary to the main issue which is Pickford being bad at the actual goalkeeping parts.

Henderson mistake for a goal against blades midweek, Guita and Lloris both howlers last wknd, Mendy rash giving away a pen against us and Schmeichal parried Richys into the bottom corner. All them guys have been well talked about on here.
I just think there are very few good keepers atm that are consistently top drawer at the basics. Alisson/Pope/Leno/Martinez for me the best in the league, Ederson maybe in there as well although has a mistake in him that gets pushed under the carpet due to his distribution.
The days of out and out shot stoppers are gone and we highlight the mistakes without really noticing how much keepers distribution/positioning has changed over the past 10 years.
Would be good to know how other supporters rate their own keepers.
Every keeper in the world has the odd howler. It’s the frequency of Pickfords that sets him apart. It’s ridiculous. He goes maybe 1 in 10 without doing something astoundingly shocking.
