Great to see him perform like that. Don't know if it was Carlo or that he is a bit older but all that money we spent on him is making sense now - and in goalkeeping terms, he's just a youngster. Chuffed.

Let's not get too carried away,he's done well but only made saves that any decent goalkeeper should.

All the other ‘decent’ goalkeepers are making huge errors though. Simon letting it run under his foot, Lloris punching someone, Dubravka putting it in his own net etc. England goalkeepers in the past have all made huge errors at key moments as well in tournaments. The keeper who avoids mistakes and is making good saves is not just playing decent, he’s hitting a standard that hardly any other keeper in the tournament has reached, maybe only Donurumma and Courtois, and they’re two of the best in the world.

I have been Pickford's biggest critic. I wasn't overly impressed at Sunderland and in honesty I was a bit underwhelming when he 1st came here. He then got worse and had a meltdown. However what I will say, is in 2021, probably post the derby he has been fantastic. I got a bit of criticism for saying as much back in February time that he was actually starting to show consistency, but for both club and country he has done very well.

I had a theory in 2018 that he played better in better teams. I think that is starting to be borne out. His best performances have been for England, but England are a team who expect to challenge to win trophies. Sunderland was a bit of a horror show as a team as were we under Koeman, so you can understand someone (wrongly) thinking it doesn't matter how they play and that 1 good game 1 bad game is enough.

I put something on twitter a few days ago to say he has gone level 4th with most clean sheets at a tournament. He is not 4th on his own. David Seaman hadn't even played for England when he was Pickford's age. I don't think Shilton had either. Only Shilton, Banks and Seaman are ahead of him. By the time he is finished he is going to go down as one of England's all time best goalkeepers.

His 1st season with us was great, got player of the year and I think players player of the year. The following season he started making major mistakes whilst still pulling off great saves. This continued and he lost the trust of the fans. Since his head has been sorted out he is once again a great and currently trustworthy keeper. He is still young and if this is the new composed Pickford then we have a top keeper. Long may it continue

People saying he’s one of the first names on the team sheet.
Well the goalie is normally no1, so that’s pretty obvious when you’re filling in the sheet I thought.

Didn't see anything outstanding, not being critical but every save was one he'd have been crucified if he hadn't made it.

But good goalkeepers do that consistently and don't make mistakes. He's demonstrating at least that - consistency and cutting out errors. ON top of that if you make some unexpected saves that's all you need!
