Thing is with goal keepers they only leave for first team football. No one better than us could offer him that.

really? if he keeps his form of the last 6 months up theres hardly anyone better in the league, though obviously most of the top clubs are set in the keeper position, but the likes of spurs or arsenal would definitely like an upgrade at keeper (they finished above us so i put them down as better).

The therapist/psychiatrist he has been seeing deserves to be knighted.

Such a massive improvement in attitude and composure. Since January(ish) he has been superb and that is all down to the mentality he now shows on the pitch, the talent was still always there but now he is showing the mental side of the game as well.

The couple of times Germany threatened he was there, Muller aside but he couldn't really do anything more than he did do in that situation. The few times when the ball came into the box he made the correct choice to stay or come for it.

Surely his mistake was seemingly trying to catch the ball, rather than just tip it over for a corner though?

Dont think he did go to catch it. Think he went to just make sure it didn’t drop under the bar though. Probably realised at the last second it was going to hit right on the top of the bar and he was in trouble.

7/8 months ago maybe.
Make no mistake this is a very different keeper. Whoever he is seeing/seen as a sports psychologist has worked wonders for him. It might be early still but i wouldnt swap him for many keepers now.

Can’t believe he hasn’t been linked in the papers to a move elsewhere… normally they’re salivating the sell the best players elsewhere lol

Serioisly though, what a revelation. Hes been fantastic now for 7 months.

I appreciate that. But I think swapping goal keepers is a big moment for most teams. Clubs are likely to stick with what they know unless there is a huge concern. Pickford is doing well, but only for half a season. In September we were all asking for him to replaced. Long may the form continue, but I think more successful clubs will need more long term success then this.

No doubt he silenced the doubters.. For now. Has he really been the problem or is it our defence? I don't think it helped him at all having Holgate/Keane at CB.

I think september was before this sport pyschology. That is everything. As its changed his game beyond recognition in terms of how he comes across now. I was a huge critic because he made me nervous almost every game. I dont get that with him now in goal.
If he continues like this we have absolutely no need for a new keeper.

But good goalkeepers do that consistently and don't make mistakes. He's demonstrating at least that - consistency and cutting out errors. ON top of that if you make some unexpected saves that's all you need!
He's been solid but not one save has been out of the ordinary. Glad for the lad and hope it continues but still think people are getting a bit ahead of themselves posting as if he's a world-beater

Can it not just be good that he has tried to work on his deficiencies and is playing well without a but on the end all the time

While I agree, I do worry that a couple of weeks of our "fans" behind him and the confidence could slip.
