2020/21 Jordan Pickford

While I agree, I do worry that a couple of weeks of our "fans" behind him and the confidence could slip.

It is always a possibility, I am sure it is an ongoing thing or will be discussed and that this is something that has been discussed.

One big test will be Newcastle away with fans, that, for me, will be the true test of how far he has come.

Former England goalkeeper David James believes Jordan Pickford has defied his critics with his performances at Euro 2020.

Pickford's mentality has been called into question in the past but the Everton keeper has been in fine form in this tournament, keeping four straight clean sheets.

"I think he's been fabulous," said James, who won 53 caps between 1997-2000.

"It makes me laugh that people are talking about mistakes in the Premier League back in December and August. Hang on a minute, we're talking about now.

"He's been outstanding. He hasn't really made a mistake, he hasn't put us under any pressure and he's been exactly what you want from a goalie in a major tournament."

Can it not just be good that he has tried to work on his deficiencies and is playing well without a but on the end all the time
I like everyone else is happy to see him doing well...but..please give me a link to an outstanding save he's made in this tournament. What worries me is the Ingerlund press is building him up and as we've seen before, one mistake however how minor if they can hang it on him if they go out, he'll get slaughtered, which may reflect on his form for us next season.

Indeed, they really get into his head, which he then tries to mask with the silly antics, which is not a great trait for a keeper.

He's been solid but not one save has been out of the ordinary. Glad for the lad and hope it continues but still think people are getting a bit ahead of themselves posting as if he's a world-beater

no he's not yet a world-beater, but he's much better than he's given credit for. I meant to say once he also adds unexpected saves to his consistency, he will be a world-class keeper.

Just fear for him if he does concede a goal they can pin on him. Think in the first game he made a save and one of the talking heads on TV said he'd pushed it back into the danger area. Like he could do anything other than get a hand to it.

really? if he keeps his form of the last 6 months up theres hardly anyone better in the league, though obviously most of the top clubs are set in the keeper position, but the likes of spurs or arsenal would definitely like an upgrade at keeper (they finished above us so i put them down as better).

I agree that a club like us in transition but near the top still (top 10 is still good relative to the rest) we will give him the no.1 place for a long time. Man City and other top 6 clubs change their keepers around, and if you see most of them have 2 keepers of equal standard, and its also on the whims of the new managers or owners - quite unstable. In our instability, we do offer chances for young players still.

The therapist/psychiatrist he has been seeing deserves to be knighted.

Such a massive improvement in attitude and composure. Since January(ish) he has been superb and that is all down to the mentality he now shows on the pitch, the talent was still always there but now he is showing the mental side of the game as well.

The couple of times Germany threatened he was there, Muller aside but he couldn't really do anything more than he did do in that situation. The few times when the ball came into the box he made the correct choice to stay or come for it.

and the Van Dijk farce must have been really really hard to take mentally.

His forum banner needs changing, has him with his old haircut when he was rubbish, been miles better since he copied Grealish's haircut, you all think it's the therapist, but it's his hairdresser that has given him the confidence to own the box
