2024/25 Jordan Pickford

People are weird. He's obviously been consistently outstanding for England. There's surely no debate on that.
I really don’t get it, especially with the so called keepers vying for number one spot with him.

Ramsdale, Pope and Henderson or whoever can’t touch him.

It’s a joke the hate he gets, and his record for club and country are other with any international keeper.

Ramsdale probably been the closest, especially when he was number 1 at Arsenal.

He's still a good keeper and the best of the rest for England, capable of the outstanding, but has a rick in him and can look over emotional at times (all stuff Pickford has been accused of in the past).

Its mad that the media have moved on from the Ramsdale hype train very quickly as they all realized he wasn't going to get his place back at Arsenal.

Pickford
Ramsdale
Henderson

In that order, its a good stable of goalkeepers but Pickford is miles ahead of the others in experience and ability.

Fan club? Why do people talk like that. Its weird. He's not a perfect keeper. I can only think of Neville Southall who had the lot. His job description is also keeping the ball out the net and he's pulled off at least half a dozen top saves in the last 2 games so he deserves a bit of credit. Thats it. He's been good.
I mean the comment about Greece last month. He's been more or less flawless for England for years. That comment sounds straight out of the kopites/horse punching Newcastle fans who hound him on social media.
Boring.

lets not forget his performance in the 2 finals England have been in recently

Vrs Italy, great save from a corner only for Italy to get the rebound before any England player could switch on.
2 penalty saves in a shootout is usually guaranteed a win, but not for 3 penalty misses from England, he gets player of the tournament if England slot 1 penalty

Vrs Spain kept them in it at 1-0 down and at 1-1 similar to what he did vrs Greece last week until the pressure was to much with a great goal from Spain, again would be in the running for MOTM if England didn't bottle it.

He's in the top 10 goalie in the world and the top 5 in the PL, unfortunately the lad coming in to the reds from Valencia is going to be one of the best.

If this is true than why have none of the top teams made a serious effort to sign him? They`ve all been changing keeper while Pickford has been Englands keeper but none of them have made a serious effort to sign him.

Pickford would cost around £60-£70m.

Arsenal got Raya on a try before you buy and then got him for £31m, that represents good value for money.

United are a basket case, they should of gone all out for Pickford when they got Onana (who is also better than people give him credit for) nd still paid less than what we would have wanted for Pickford

Reds wouldn't buy him, plus they have Alisson and have lined up a brilliant replacement

City have had Ederson for the whole time we have had Pickford

Spurs again went for a cheaper option in Vicario

Chelsea decided to buy 12 goalies, and still don't have a decent one, during that time they spent £80m on Kepa and he was terrible, maybe they thought they didn't want to put that much outlay on a goalie

Newcastle wouldn't buy him

Long story short, as good as Pickford is, clubs feel that what we would ask for him £60-£70m wouldn't represent good value for a position the better teams don't rely on s much as a team like ourselves.
People very rarely spend that amount of money on a GK, we bought Pickford 8 years ago and he's still the 11th biggest fee paid for a goalkeeper

Surely the value of the player second in the list is wrong. Free transfer I bet. They never spend cash.

Not sure that it would take anything near that figure to have us accepting an offer, especially when we have BMD to pay for and have been borrowing money regularly to keep the lights on. Is it just purely teams going for a cheaper option or is there even the slightest thought that he might be a good keeper but not good enough consistently for the top teams?

I cant really think of any major tournament he's gone to where he hasnt been one of Englands best performers.
Possibly consistency is a downside at club level. But he's saved Everton a few times.
Tbh the point of my post was towards the person who for some reason deemed it worthy to post negatively towards him when he'd just had a very good week for club & country. Have a day off.

I'd imagine if you put a poll up that the figure wouldn't be lower than what I've stated
