2024/25 Jordan Pickford

Only Schmeichel for me.

No doubt somebody might say Buffon or something, but I've generally not seen enough of any keeper who has not played in this country to even begin being able to compare.

Yes for English Football Schmeichel is the closest I've seen who could hold a candle to Southall and I thought he was still a little away from prime Southall.

We are pretty lucky we have him - probably the only real difference between us and the bottom 3 for a few seasons now.
He has been terrific for us and we are indeed lucky to have him. Cant believe that big teams like chelsea or united settled in the past for cheaper options when he could easily been playing for either of those teams today making a significant contribution...both united and chelsea (teams that were supposedly interested in pickford in the past) have sub par goalkeepers today which it is costing them more money that they saved by signing cheaper options

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford – Everton

Where would Everton be without Jordan Pickford? Perhaps, the Championship. The England goalkeeper has been consistently excellent in a struggling side in recent seasons and helped the Toffees to a precious point at Arsenal this weekend. He denied Martin Odegaard from close range with an impressive stop following a deflection, before turning a Bukayo Saka strike around the post. He’s now the joint leader in the Premier League Golden Glove race.

Honestly think there must have been offers but he's always said he's happy at Everton, sometimes that can mean a lot especially with a young family.

I think we are lucky to have Pickford too. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the premier league and one of the positions we don’t need to worry about.

Regarding Southall, I was in my mid twenties when he was at his peak in the 80’s league winning teams. I can only describe him as invincible. Whenever a player was one on one with him, or a really wicked cross was whipped into the box, or a fierce shot was incoming, I always had the feeling that he would deal with it. I don’t get that feeling with Pickford. I don’t have that inner calm when we are defending.

That’s the difference for me.

But I do love them both and I am glad they wore/wear the Everton shirt.
