Jordan Pickford

Remember how we all felt when United came in for Baines and Fellaini with ridiculous bids. Outraged is too tame a description. Insulted is better. Why would we want to act like that to a club who we have built up such a good rapport with over the years. By all means do it with the likes of Chelsea just to P them off.

In any event, it's just paper talk so I'd like to believe it's a load of bull.

Indeed Fred, the damage these derisory bids can do to club relationships can be shocking, and make no mistake £8m is an absolute donkey of a bid.

I see a good young keeper in Pickford. But £25m really? I dont think £8m is that far off the mark. £10m max.
I would have preferred Butland or Begovic

If that bid is true, I'm deeply worried about our summer, as that is clearly a nothing bid. It's not even designed to unsettle the player, as even he would know that's a stupid amount of money.
yes, it does rather chime though with Moshiri querying the Rooney bid over expense, and his not putting one penny piece into the new build. I think the calls for us to be trumpeted as the next Manchester City may well turn out a tad premature. I'll be amazed if we have a net spend this window.

Maybe it's just a sign of testing the water. Even if you have a lot of money it's not bad to save some.

In all honesty, all this derisory bid of 8 million talk etc. Why is that the case?

This lad is young, inexperienced, and only played 1 season of top flight football. Spending 25 million on him is massively overspending by even our standards considering the price of the world record goalkeeper is only 33 million.

If anything, the club spending 25 million on Pickford will have me worried that we really are throwing money away. 15 million is a reasonable price for him and only because of the inflated english price tag. Anything beyond that is silly, especially as Pickford could actually turn out to be more Ruddy than Southall for us.

Too much inflation. People laughing at a 8 million pound bid for a relagted kid goalkeeper. Madness.

Don't know why clubs are bothered about paying big money for good goal keepers. They play every game, are hardly injured, are absolutely vital, and will have a peak that lasts for years. If this was some silky number ten we'd all be falling over ourselves urging Everton to cough up any ridiculous number. I can't watch another season of Everton having one of the worst keepers in the league in goal. Declining Howard, Joel, and Stek should all have been number 2s yet the club has avoided paying the money for a proper number 1. Just do it Everton and end the circus act between the sticks which has been going on since 2011.

It's only an opening offer. if our starting offer is £8m and they want £30m, they'll be more likely to accept a few million less.

We are doing the same with Lukaku, like anyone is going to offer £80m/100m for him. We'd get around 60/65.

He made is debut on loan to a lower league team and they got relegated aswell.

Yes but that means usually being at least in the ballpark for the player, which would have been £15m approx.

£8m is a complete waste of time. All it does is annoy the selling club, like Chelsea did to us with Stones. He's a player in demand - they'll just sell to another club if at all possible now.
