Still miles ahead as player of the season.
Even as a Pickford fan, I thought the criticism was justified mate.
In the England squad with Butland, Nick Pope and Joe Hart.
Hart? haha
What are you basing this on? I havent seen him make a save any top 6 keeper couldnt. I havent seen all his games, but Ive seen all for Everton and he has not been anything special. He makes a few stellar saves, yes, but then he lets in two soft ones. Not a fantastic keeper in my eyes, but he’s doing okey.He makes saves that most goalkeepers aren't capable of, and for that alone he's worth persevering with. In a better side he could be a genuine match-winner.
If this is a good season from him I'd hate to see a bad one, think he's been pretty mediocre myself, not bad but certainly in no way outstanding and some of the praise he gets is way over the top. I'm yet to be convinced he's going to be a top class keeper but time is on his side at least. If you're comparing him with our last few keepers then even a fresh Tim Howard who arrived from Man Utd was more convincing between the sticks than Jordan has been this season. I think if he wasn't English and was Eastern European or something he wouldn't be getting hyped up half as much by pundits and commentators so i'll file under must do better along with the rest of the squad.
He's had Wliams and Keane in front of him ? File under asked to do an impossible job !!!If this is a good season from him I'd hate to see a bad one, think he's been pretty mediocre myself, not bad but certainly in no way outstanding and some of the praise he gets is way over the top. If you ever rated Tim Howard, we may as well just accept that you and I have polar opposite views on what makes a good goalkeeper. What are you basing this on? Tbh, Id rather have a fresh faced Timmy Howard than Pickford.
Ha, fair enough! If you ever rated Tim Howard, we may as well just accept that you and I have polar opposite views on what makes a good goalkeeper.
I think that sums it up quite well for me. I like him, and think he's been generally decent for us. I just don't understand why some people think he's been excellent and a stand out for us, because I really don't think he has.Think he's been good, personally
I feel comfortable with him. Been a while since I've felt that way.
There was a great stat the other week which was looking at the flip side of those xG stats which have been en vogue
Essentially, there were only 5 keepers in the whole league who had saved all the shots they should have saved if that xG thing is reversed - Pickford was one of the five, along with De Gea, Pope, Courtois and one other who I can't remember off the top of my head - effectively it said that Pickford had saved what he should be saving, no more and no less, but that only 5 keepers are doing that. De Gea, as you might expect, was out by himself in terms of having saved far more than he *should* have saved, with the other four quite close together - literally every other keeper in the league was performing below par. So, he isn't De Gea level or anything, but I think we've got ourselves a good keeper. He can improve, certainly, but personally I don't have a sense of dread anytime the ball comes in our area like I've had for more or less the last decade
People in over-exaggerating players' ability shocker.
On the other hand, article in the rags suggest Gueye and Pickford have a problem with one another.
