We may as well give Mark Ward and Michael Branch some jobs training the youth squads while were at it.Bring the whole gang back.Seriously are we going to keep giving every player on our books with drug abuse problems second and third chances?A silly gesture that set's a very dangerous precedent imo going forward.

Everton are basically giving young players the wrong idea here

He was released for being not good enough. Tested positive for banned substances yet we have re signed him? Why? Pointless having him here. Hate this club sometimes with its decision making

Seems like both Stubbs and Weir tried to help him in the past and now Unsie. Anyone knows why all this good efforts on Baxter?

Take your point but the lad is 24 and a good player - so there is a chance he could step up. Club obviously see something this won't be a charity decision.

It certainly IS a charity decision. If ,come the summer, Baxter completes his ban without problems, its worth giving the lad a chance to get his life back on track. IT ALWAYS IS. Anyone who has been involved, either closely or just a small distance from a similar scenario will know that you ALWAYS GIVE PEOPLE CHANCE AFTER CHANCE. The capitals are deliberate, because that's what caring human beings do. What if Baxter was YOUR son, or brother? There would be no deadlines on attempted rehabilitation then.

Probably cheaper to hire him as an example to the young lads how to carefully explain how you can have the world at your feet and lose it all, I wonder how much the player liaison officers had in this?

This is a master stroke and a finger in the eye of Rooney. You aren't welcome you treacherous fat monk. This

Supposedly that Denise Barrett-Baxendale was behind it mate.

This just shows the type of club we are - one with morales. I'm very proud of Everton for looking after somebody who clearly couldn't deal with the highs of being 'the next big thing' or just a good footballer in the spot light.

Once again, our class and values shine through in a financially cut throat driven industry.

signing Baxter is no more bizarre than giving Gibson another 2 years so this contract doesn't surprise me one bit think it's to make up the number after we sell players in the summer tbh

Ermm...

You think we're signing an ex-youngster with a drug problem who has since played at league one level to make up numbers when we sell players?

Really?
