Like a lot of fans I was surprised (and a bit too judgemental if I'm honest) at this news. But I know someone who I trust and who is close to the man's family. He's no longer the kid who left Everton or the young man who stupidly got into o drugs. I understand he has worked hard to mature and turn around his life so I say good luck to him. He's got an almighty chance that most can only ever dream of. And as far as I'm told that's not lost on him. It brings more pressure to succeed. So he's simply a man working hard to get a new job elsewhere by being employed somewhere to start with. I hope he succeeds.

Going to be interesting how he handles being in the limelight again with a few quid on his hip.

Unsworth isn't a soft touch, if he thinks it's the right thing to do I'd back him. Chances are if he gets back on his feet we'd get money back that we'd spent on his wages. He's drinking in the last chance saloon though!

He is still only 24. A kid! Everyone has done something stupid or got involved with the wrong group of lads. He was even younger when that happened. He had money and was attaching the wrong mates and probably couldn't say no. How many of us say yes to a beer when we said the day before we wouldn't drink this week? Anyhow. It'll be something else to talk / moan about. Think Everton are clearly the people's club ;) good luck Jose!

People are forgetting that he's not coming until the summer when he's served his ban. It will be 90% a rehabilitive process for him and 10% 'see how he plays'..at which point, when he's ready,if he ever is, he may move on to a lower league side. He won't be coming to Everton to play any part at all in Prem or European matters next season...and rest assured that the old mutterer at the PFA will be keeping a close eye on developments as well.

A strange decision. I fully support the moral obligation to help former employees. I extend that from player to the tea lady.

I suspect his contract is a lot less than the suggested £5k. If it's a gesture to help someone get their life back on track then none of us can argue with that.

I have to clarify that though, I'm thinking average industrial wage BUT private professional support as required.

What next bring back Billy Kenny?
The lad has had two bites of the cherry - we are not a charity!

All I can say is I wish we were as successful on the pitch as we are off it!
