Don't think it's got anything to do with seeing anything in him.

Purely has to be down to Unsworth and Royal knowing him from a young age when he was out on loan at Oldham and at Sheff United and he's asked a favour so he can find a new club. Club have agreed to it.

But listen to any Sheff United fan...Good footballer. Bad egg.

As a person I mean, not as a footballer.

I think it sets a bad example. There's so many kids out there who work their backside off to make it in this game, who really inch out every drip of ability they have, but ultimately don't quite make it and are told they aren't good enough.

This fella had all the ability in the world but was happy to throw it all away to get off his head with his mates? It's hard to have any sympathy for that kind of behaviour. I hope he gets himself turned around and makes a good life for himself and has a good future. But he doesn't deserve this opportunity. Especially since he felt the need to bad mouth the club at every opportunity.

Depends on if he does end up sorting himself out or not.

We cant lose either way. If he sorts his life out we helped him out with that, if he doesnt then we can at least say we tried. No loss for the club at all.

Some comments on this thread are make me embarrassed to be an Evertonian
He's NOT on £5K a week; he's not Public Enemy Number One; he is a talented footballer; this is a laudable and constructive move made by a proper, decent football club.
.
He couldn't make the grade with us last time, so his chances are going to be more diminished this time around
I don't this this is a footballing decision

if they want to help him overcome his drug problems great but why do it
at the expense of a place in the under 23 squad for another kid !!

Signing a player who's 25 and can't develop into what we want rather than spending it on a younger players wages who could develop?

Bringing in a player who's league one/two standard and who's image of drugs is surely a bad thing to portray on the younger team? Patheric
