I agree. However, we were not a good team and couldn’t put an attack together.

Ancelotti chose not to use King, Gordon and Bernard. They might not have been great, but they were what we had.

Given the way we finished the season, they couldn’t have made us any worse.
 
There were plenty of games where we needed goals and or pace upfront and we bought on Dm or defenders instead of King, it was utter lunacy. Some of those games, against the lower sides where we lost 1-0, he cold have made the difference and we would have been in Europe.
 
It was baffling at times. If he wasn't good enough then don't put him on the bench. Richarlison should have been dropped. DCL might have benefited from having someone as fast and direct as King next to him as defenders would drop off. He should have had a chance

Unless, as someone suggested, it was a Brands deal and Carlo was seeing his arse. This also would add to the way he left etc

1. Zidane decided he was going a few days before Ancelotti was approached.
2. How would it benefit Ancelotti to do poorly with us and stop us getting Europe?

It certainly was strange.
The excuse of not being a Carlo signing can't be used as we know he convinced King to join us in the first place.
It isn't as if we were doing so well that he couldn't get into the team and the few snippets we saw of him showed that he did bring some pace and strength into the team. He certainly did not get a reasonable chance to show what he could do.

It possibly shows that Carlo was out of his depth at a club like Everton where an abundance of talent was not at his disposal.

The problem with this is that JK says that it was Ancelotti who told that he wanted him to the club, and he promised him a lot of playing time. If this was solely a Brands deal then Ancelotti would hardly lift a finger to get him to the club.

Most likely this was a proposal presented to Ancelotti by Brands. This is what we can get. But Ancelotti was not particularly interested in doing a background check, but more concerned with eating food, and therefore said yes solely to be able to eat the food without interruption. Ancelotti loves his food.

Much can be said about the signing of King, but at the end of the season we did not exactly set the world on fire. He is an ok PL player, and could at least have given us something other than what we kept trying, and which did not work. Personally, I do not understand why we did not go for the combination Richarlison - DCL - King.

Just look at our last 12 games, it was if he was deliberately trying to avoid European football for us - his team selections his substitutes taking the best players off the pitch etc ....

You might have something here, a lot of what he did was baffling but at the time a blind eye was turned becuase of his status.
Like he drops Davies after his best game but would persist with Gomes.
As for the game he had Mina and Keane both on the bench, that was like he was hiding it in plain sight how little he wanted us to do well.
I think you have a point.

Add to that his comment about football being the most important thing out of all the unimportant things in his life, that was a very odd thing to say.
