Yes heard that a Sheffield lad on another forum said the talk around them parts was that last time we tried & made an official bid but the club didn't tell his dad David hirst & he hit the roof. Claims they are quietly confident he will be better than harry Kane. Tall order that but if we could get him we would have Calvert Lewis, Sambou, & our Dutch manchild we should be able to get one of them through if not more.

The Dutch lad is just 16 so some way to go yet
Sambou I think is 6months+ older than DCL so this is probably a defining season for him
DCL I think with all the talk of us signing a target man, he could do that role for us or go on loan.

So I think the u23s may lack one or two forwards.

Hopefully were back in for Hirst, Sheff Wed, Leicester and England youth cant all be wrong.

I won't hold my breath, but it would be nice to see a few more of these "good young prospects" that we sign make it into the first team. We have had one or two, holgate and stones, but most of them never get into the first team

Imagine if we had signed Dele Alli when we got Galloway. We'd be laughing now. The key isn't just the development of a couple of them...its creating a conveyor belt.

Once the players hit the u23s I think they should be facing top competition from players were signing at that level. Then the best get through into the first team squad.

..from the clubs who are reportedly after him, if I was his advisor he wouldn't be having a trial. Trials are there to convince a club, it sounds like a number of top clubs are already convinced. I might be wrong but a trial doesn't really make sense to me unless it's Everton who are on trial.

Seems to suggest that Everton's youth set up is now being recognised as up there with the best in Europe. Youngsters will learn and be given opportunities to develop and if ultimately not with us most will go on to establish decent career paths with other clubs. Unlike Chelsea et al who simply buy up 'starlets' and then farm them straight out we want to take them on and actually teach and develop them. We actually show them the love and help them to progress which other clubs are failing to do.
I imagine there are many youngsters who now regret moving to Chelsea, Man City/United...etc because they are made to feel no more than commodities when they should be made to feel part of a family which encourages them to thrive much in the same way we do with our own kids.
Very proud of our club in so many, many ways and whilst mistakes will be made our handling of youth development has to rank as one of the best.

If he's willing to have a game on trial though eggs and not refusing it ( like you said you would think he wouldn't have to ) then sounds like he wants to impress us as much as we may have impressed him.

...that would make more sense to me. If he was my lad I'd want the best deal at the most suitable club. If he's as in demand as they say, I wouldn't be sending him for trials.

..we've signed a few youngsters from abroad without a trial. If he is on trial I can only think he's not as in demand as reports suggest. Unless Everton are offering a staggering amount of money if he impresses.

Yep could be talk of everyone being interested to drum up interest in the kid or we may have already officially signed him and just not confirmed it yet??
