Breaking out the Spanish GCSE lids

"
Juan Mata will soon leave Manchester United and engage with Everton. Negotiating the transfer of around 25 million euros

I think he'd be a good signing. £25m fair. Not a bargain, but a good player for the money.

Edit - oh hang on that's €

Wow looks like it may actually happen! Tell you what, United are quite generous when they no longer want a player; they always let them leave for peanuts. And in this day and age €25m for Mata is peanuts.

....not too bad if Baines provides the real width when he links and overlaps in the top third. I suspect Mata would score more goals and create more chances over a season than Lennon. Also, the advantage of him drifting in slightly might see him provide the through balls many want for Lukaku.

Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

Honestly mate - that is the least risky predicrtion i have ever seen made. Lennon has amaased a grand total of 5 assists in 62 games for us
In his last year at Chelsea Mata had 35 assists in 64 games, 20 in 54 games the year before.

Once a blue, always a blue.

Isn't it the same old problem of a narrow midfielder who wants to play central, being stuck on the left, and therefore will not stay wide? I feel like if we have a natural wide player in Lennon / Geri on the right, and then a 'forced' winger on the left, it doesn't balance out well
I think it could work with him to the right of Barkley, but not as a winger. He can link with Barkley and have Coleman on his out side.

To balance that out you would need a wide striker on the left. Someone who is capable of scoring 15 goals and getting close to the striker. Would need more running from Barkley as well. So mata will have plenty of options when he gets the ball.

Aye that price was in Euros mate, and tbh at his age - just turned 28, with his record in the league and what United paid for him, anything less than 30m quid is a bargain

20m we have had them off big time
