Witsel is a very good player mate. Seen him a few times - great technical ability, good brain.

Don't judge him in a poorly performing Belgium side. Biggest question is whether he can step up and be good consistently in a better league, but he'd certainly be an exciting signing.

"Linked to Barca/Real every summer" is a pretty small group. You're talking players of the level of Pogba and Bale.

OBVIOUSLY we're not going to sign a player of that level - but they don't need to be that level for it to be a big statement from us. Nobody could have DREAMED 12 months ago that we'd even be talking about signing someone like Mata.

Mata was linked to Barca as of january just gone mate - if that really matters

we will not be buying players that Real or Barca want, not now, not ever franly, no club in the world can do that

The spain national manager has been as bad as Hodgson over the last 4 years mate, Gabi and Nigues from Athletico, Cazorla, Martinez from Soceidad, Isco, Mata and Costa all didn't get called up for the Euro's - it honestly means absolutely nothign does it?

Doesn't matter mate,m he doesn't look gfaded as a player at all, he has had absolutely ZERO injuries throughout his career, so no concern their, he has just been playing in a side that has been shunting him around to make room for more favoured players who arent as good in the role he excels at and still prodcuing numbers and goals/assists equal to our best, Rooney being the prime example of that, also united have lacked the type of movement around him that makes him excel - at us hopefully with ross, deulofeu, mirallas, lukaku and whoever else come sin we will have the type of movement and speed around him that brings the best out his game

Exactly, nothing has happened yet, we dont know if this will even be a successful era for the club, hope is great but to other clubs nothing has changed at all.

Agreed, Mata and Witsel and two very good footballers both mentally and technically - different class in stature and ability to the likes of Cleverley/McCarthy.

Sounds like he would be a good signing. I wanted us to sign Calhanoglu or b.silva as they are really top notch playmakers so hopefully mata turns out as good for us as i think those 2 would be.

At this moment I would say he most definitely is a statement of intent. Quick question do you think he would have even considered coming here just 6 months ago? Or would we even have been linked to him?
