Player Valuation: £80m
£670k per year wages? Is that not like £13k per week? :S
Aye he was only bought from Genk for 5-6m though so sounds about right, also explains why he wants to move lol

prefer parmesanI would take anything stemming from Italian press with massive pinches of salt.
Bale is not even the best Welsh player of all time. Step forward sir Neville Southall.
It isn't when you sell a player in the same position for around the same.
Puts you back to square one, same team just swapped one player about
and if he ends up being crap then he becomes a expensive joke when he is joining stekelenberg as our our only business.Really...did spurs go ouyt spending 80m on on player, did united spend it when they sold Ronaldo....did we do it with Lescott or Fellani....
So yes it isa massive statement....would be one of most expensive defenders ever....and coming to Everton...if it happens
Spurs went down that route as did the RS when they sold Suarez and buying a number of players to compensate for the loss of 'their star player'. Really you need to replace quality with quality. If we get a few in excess of 40m for stones, I'm hoping that many to be invested in a similar class of player. Not 3-4 12m signings spread around the team. Obviously we wint be breaking our transfer record with every signing, but we do need to replace quality with quality.and if he ends up being crap then he becomes a expensive joke when he is joining stekelenberg as our our only business.
Point i'm making mate is not to sign him, but back it up with others as well. We would look foolish signing big just because we sold big and then playing tom cleverley and arouna kone in the team. however sign a few players and actually look to improve the team this window as well as sign koulababy then great, much better for us.
What those two did though was hugely different. Liverpool wasted their money like they always do. Spurs spent wisely in hindsight with 3 key players all coming in with the money. They weren't all hits but to get 3 first team players is a great outcome.Spurs went down that route as did the RS when they sold Suarez and buying a number of players to compensate for the loss of 'their star player'. I think spurs and lpool where a few years late in having big money to spend as they where then competing with Chelsea and city. The competition now means upto 8 teams have to spend big as they are all looking for the top 4. Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate and that means buying the best available. by us being linked with all sorts may mean even if we don't get that player I would hope we have bumped the price to reduce the money left for those others to spend. What those two did though was hugely different. I agree with adding quality, just thst a bit of perspective is needed. When key members of the squad like Kone are clearly not good enough then we need to inject better players into it on a whole rather than act Billy big balls and sign a player to make a statement. Means nothing when the rest of the team falters. Compared to us signing a couple of midfielders better than what we have, a back up striker better than Kone, decent keeper and then go out and spend big on a defender then the team benefits. Not every player will be a hit but we do need to bring 4-5 players in and try our best to improve on what we have. We are a mid table team with a bottom half squad right now, a few good signings and combine them with the likes of rom and we suddenly get a top 6 team that hopefully that can get even better.
Many city were spot on in their spending mate. How many players did they rush out to sign who are still part of their team? Perfect way of spending big if 5 years on their team is still there.I am not certain that any club has ever taken the same approach to vast new found wealth as Man City. Even Chelsea were not as reckless.
In fact, I would say that most have learned from their mistakes.
If nothing else, the delay in signing players appears at least as if we are not prepared to keep throwing money at agents, players and clubs until they give in.
Yes, it would appear that our wages level will increase, but it is not possible to sign better established players than what we have on the pay scale that already existed.
