I've not gave an opinion on him, never watched him live in a match. Just wondering why people rate him so highly and are quick to dismiss John Stones who is younger and is rated highly by Pep and Jose.

Guess people rate him highly because he is a very very good cb mate whose also rated by one of the best judges on defenders in Conte

Why they need to dismiss Stones in the same breadth though i don't understand, he will be one of the best out their by his mid 20's

Maybe part of it is one is at his peak right now and the other is still a work in progress, maybe part of it's down to it's easier to face up to Stones leaving if you put him down beforehand

Will we have a better defense with koulibaly playing say than we would with Stones - short term i 'guess' maybe so, but long term only time could show us, plus got no idea how quick stones will develop with ACTUAL coaching rather than the last 3 years of backslapping do what ya want coaching

That's how much we paid for him so it won't be 450k

It will either be 15 percent of the sale so 50m would be 7.5m

Or 15 percent of the profit which would be 50-3 (47) profit. 15 percent of 47, 7,050,000

If we sold for 50 mil of course

The difference being £450k :)

Nah mate it proves nothing at all, just like using any stat about international call ups actually matters rather than the quality of a player, never been one to decide on how good a player is on if he is called up by an international manager - have you?

Conte rates him highly, Moomin doesn't - know who my money would be on judging how good he is :)

Flabbergasted thst you used conte as an example. If you had used my name then @Moomin would have conceded.

Because he is "The Daddy".

Think all of us would prefer to keep stones and watch him develop but this chap is the only one id be happy with as a replacement bar the crazy names.

If that defender had been doing it consistently for years, then it's worth breaking the bank, but on the back of supposedly one good season, then breaking the bank becomes a gamble, maybe because we're now rich we can take that gamble?

Is it breaking the bank though when it is the direct reinvestment from a player who has the promise to be brilliant one day but right now is just a good cb with flaws, into a player who has improved year in year out and has an amazing season last time put in a tough league to standout as a cb given the quality over there?

The thing for me though is, I know what we're getting with Stones, and I know he's boss, but up until this thread I hadn't even heard of the other lad, let alone seen him play, so I can't really comment on how good he is.

Koulibaly is a good barometer of the calibre of player we might attract, or not, as the case may be, over the next few weeks.

It would genuinely represent a huge signing for us if we could pull it off. Exceptional defender but not yet a huge name and not currently so removed from our orbit that you would describe the prospect of signing him as remote.

I'm more inclined to think Chelsea will get him but if we could persuade Koulibaly that the future is bright at Everton it would be a huge vote of confidence from a player who will have a lot of options to consider. Undoubtedly would be our record signing too by a long way.

Thing that has me 'slightly' optimistic re Chelsea is that they do seem as of late to set a internal limit on a players value and won't go above that no matter what happens - and just switch to the next on the list.

Big thing with Koulibaly mate, he is only on about 15-20k per week at napoli so can offer 6 times his salary without breaking sweat which must be hugely tempting for any player.

Hope i have is that Moshiri doesn't get too hung up about a percieved 'statement' he may want to make

Only guesswork but had the feeling he may want to do something like break the record fee 2-3 times during the same window to really make an announcement, which would require signing players in set orders which isn't exactly easy to do
