All the talk of cover from Martinez leads me to think we'll take Jones off them for £500k or something and give him a 6 month contract to cover Lukaku.

God forbid Jones ever steps on the pitch.

Would honestly rather have a kid from the academy mate, and I am not joking. This guy is like Bambi on ice, he's a joke. He's somehow worse than Kone. The thought of those two being on our books makes me think we're going back years.

I don't know enough about him to comment appropriately, I'd wager that Stoke use Crouch as the battering ram from all their long balls and he's very much the back-up option. I'd guess his goal tally doesn't look great but he is playing for Stoke after all.. so, maybe he isn't good enough or maybe he's just not appreciated by the Stokies.. - clutching at straws here!! He did score a goal against us!!

agreed...Vellios was alright for us when he actually made appearances.

It's not on this!

We spent THE LEAST amount of money in the entire Premier League last summer, we should have a good 15 million to spend. So why are we still going for dirt cheap, bargain basement signings that nobody else wants?

Ambition, my arse!

A Bobby Signing...

Yes. Because that's entirely different to what Kenwyne Jones is doing.

Jones has played 10 games for Stoke this season.

That's a whole 10 more then Vellios has played for Everton this season.

Kenwyne Jones has a 1 in 4 goal ratio in the Premier League. Vellios can't even get 1 in 4 for the reserves.

They're both poor players as it stands.

People are quick to dismiss paper talk of Barkley going to United for £50m, so why the eagerness to fume about some equally ridiculous rumour ?

It's like people are desperate to be unhappy. It's dead weird.

this is the guardian though. it's usually cheap sjit like the sun and the mirror linking barkley away. the broadsheets dont really do lazy rumours
