Kevin Mirallas

Mirallas should be playing every week in my opinion. Naismith on the bench. Kone to never wear the famous shirt again if we get a 2nd striker in.
But what do I know?
It seems to me kithnou, you know a good player when you see one my man. Damn right that kone should be offed and popped. KTF

Mirallas has even scored more goals than Deulefeu and Barkley in the last 3 seasons -
Erm so he should, not only is he a player in his peak years professionally with them being kids but Barkley had an MCL injury and Deulofeu wasn't even here for a season!!!

However despite being young both have reacted to poor runs of form last seadon by forcing the manager to include them in the squad by their performances when they have been given an opportunity and clearly working on their weaknesses - hopefully Kev will have the mentality to do the same.

That only Naismith & Coleman(?) pulled him on...Where was Jagielka & Baines...And Martinez?

No worse than what he got away with scot-free on sewerez.

Duncan Ferguson was always first down the tunnel at full time.

Osman starting or being brought on before him - as well as Naismith or Kone playing his position....And you wouldn't be cheesed off about it?
And he got given a new contract in there somewhere. What was the point? Mirallas has quality and we've seen that in his time here again and again, big games too. I don't see the events as being connected. He was a bit of a knob touting himself for a move but we got him to sign a new contract. He just hasn't really been given the same opportunities that Kone, Naismith, and Deulofeu have been given to have a run in the team. I miss seeing Kev winning us games, he used to do that for us and I don't see a reason why he couldn't do it now given the chance.

I half-wanted him to come on instead of pienaar the other night - but I can only assume Boberto has real, principled reasons for not playing him - in that instance, he probably wanted to see the game out and thought retaining possession would've been better than rolling the dice with some raw pace...

...his contributions shouldn't be overlooked and he should be given more of a chance; but why placate him when Deulofeu is (was?) playing really well and is the 'future'? It seems obvious then that he should play ahead of Kone... but his touch/ball retention is quite important to the way we have seemingly adapted now - i.e. not getting battered with ceaseless counter-attacks.

I hope we see him spin his Belgian silk again soon, but I'm not fully on board with the disbelief at his exclusion.

There's a touch of the foreigner about Kevin, his body language, the way he lurks about on the bench not being picked to start or come on. We should sell and replace with someone inferior.

Plain to see that the manager doesn't trust him anymore, ocne thats gone then rarely a way back for a player unless he makes it impossible to ignore him when given the chance, the few chances he has had he has looked mediocre at best, honestly cannot see any way he will be more than a real bit part player for us again and for a player we could likely receive 10-12m for should we wish to sell seems absolutely madness to keep him sitting rotting on the bench when we could us that to actually get in someone who will be played for the wages we are paying.

this sin't an anti Mirallas post by any means either, just looking at the situation then seems the only way both parties can come out of it well, right now whats happening isn't suiting anyone

He's a flair player that needs a few games to get things moving. I'll acquiesce and agree to say 'no he hasn't', but that doesn't mean he's not the best player on that left side.

If we jot down the players and their abilities, i'd agree Kev is the most suited to be on that left hand side. In isolation.
Being a flair player isn't an excuse for not stamping his authority on a game when in the knowledge that it's his opportunity to give the manager something to think about.
Besic came in and put in 30minutes which pretty much nailed down his inclusion against City. If KM wants to be back in the team, he's going to have to produce something similar.
I think it's only fair that whilst results are ok and crucially it's evident that scoring goals isnt a problem for us, KM will remain on the bench until he puts in a performance worthy of a place in the first 11 in the following game.

Deulofeu and Kone can be poor for 4/5 games, doing virtually nothing and Mirallas can face the wrath of Martinez and the fans if he comes on for 10 minutes and doesn't have a huge impact on the game.

It's absolutely mad that our best winger, and one of our best players finds himself rotting away on the sidelines whilst we languish in mid table.

He's not our best winger though, Deulofeu is.

It's madness that 2 players outside of the first 11 could be sold for the same price it would cost us to sign Yarmolenko or a similar quality player.
