I'm flabbergasted he signed a new contract in the summer, the writing was on the wall for him with Martinez last year after he selfishly took that penalty against West Bromwich and missed.
His attitude has been a disgrace this season, he has had limited chances through Martinez's refusal to play two wingers and his own downfall, but he's made no effort to impress when he's been on the pitch. Mirallas is a 'me me me' player who's dreadfully inconsistent and has had one too many chances. I was thinking driving home yesterday I couldn't care less if we never seen him again in an Everton shirt and now I've slept on it I feel exactly the same.
Am I being weird or is he looking a bit weighty?
We're talking about a world in which clubs will pay £13.5m for Oumar Niasse and a similar amount for Andros Townsend. I'm pretty confident that somebody would have taken Mirallas on a free.He had no choice. Held out, but nobody else would have him.

Just don't see it. He might not be as good as he thinks he is, but he's still an above average premier league attacker. A genuine match winner on his day. He'll have had plenty of options, but evidently he felt none of them were better than what he already had. I reckon he'll go this summer anyway, with a fee instead of free, so signing a contract just for the sake of it wouldn't have made any sense.Oh yeah, I'm sure clubs would have taken him on a free, but I think we wanted some sort of fee, and when it was apparent that nobody was going to offer anything near decent, we offered him a good contract which he signed in fear of having to sign a naff one when he's up for free.

Totally agree.Fair enough. I think he felt as though he was due a better move to a 'bigger' club at the time, but they didn't come in. Money talks, and I think Mirallas signed an extension here for a decent whack for security rather than any ambition.
He is a match winner on his day, but how often is that? Good clubs want consistency and won't pay good money for anything less.

He'd get a much much better contract when he's on a free. He'd also have many more clubs after him, your logic is completely flawed.
Why?
