Naismith never even kicked Ivanovic, his leg went between Ivanovic's legs trying to kick the ball, no stamp, no card so no comparison mate.
He connected with the ball true but it was already out of play and think the intent was to wind Ivanovic up. The ref seemed keen to give stuff to Chelsea - bit rash by Naismith imo and we could have been punished.

ffs, didn't realise the derby was within those 3 games.

it was pure out of frustration, martinez really should have brought him on earlier today. he's a better player than deulofeu as well, but dela seems to have worked on his tracking back tenfold, so maybe that was the reason.

anyway, he should have been wise enough to know he would have gotten his chance at reading t prove he deserves to start.
he was immense last season, but we have done well without him in the starting XI this season. good job we have decent enough options on the wing to make do.

Licking my lips at the thought of Del putting Lovren on his arse numerous times

How in God's good earth did Roberto get Mirallas to sign that contract? I hope Roberto knows what he is doing because we need players like Mirallas to be playing well. He and Barkley are the only truly direct midfielders we have.

Laughing at people blaming martinez for getting mirallas sent off... since when does efc revolve around kevin mirallas, he's a very good player no doubt, and when performing to his maximum no doubt would be a starter. Fact is he's not in the team presently, get your head down and work hard to get back in the team, your paid handsomely to do it. Saying it was martinez's fault for not getting him on earlier is laughable

Red card is obviously not Martinez's fault. But he does pick when the subs come on and Mirallas is a pretty good finisher, and was needed earlier.

I don't think there was any intent to do damage, but why was he trying to kick the ball after it had gone out?

As for kev', it crossed my mind that he didn't fancy the trip to Reading next week. I'm probably wrong, but he's had this surly
body language lately and doesn't look happy.

In the run of the match I'm not certain Nais was fully aware of the touch line he was simply intent on clearing the ball. Kev always looks surly but having seen it again moments ago I'm sure it was totally intentional, a touch of revenge from another game, he owed him one from another time

People are saying he's frustrated, while that might seem the obvious answer, its probably a combination of things. Lad's just come on and wanted to make an impact. He went for a 50-50 ball as he was told to do and all he's done is try to wrap his foot around the ball. Shouldn't have stamped on the other guy's foot but I see it as a heat of the moment thing.

Looked surly when he came on but I give him the benefit of the doubt maybe he was just fired up?

Having him rubbed out for 3 weeks is way too long for something like this. It's going to be a month before he plays again and that's pretty unreasonable given the circumstances. He'll have to play his way back into the side and it won't be until November or December till we see the best of him. What a waste to the start of the season for him.
