Kevin Mirallas

How in God's good earth did Roberto get Mirallas to sign that contract? I hope Roberto knows what he is doing because we need players like Mirallas to be playing well. He and Barkley are the only truly direct midfielders we have.

He told Mirallas that he'd be substituting at centre half.................it workedlol

You are all reading way to much into this Mirallas thing. I don't think there was any intent with the challenge. ...and ffs he hasn't become [Poor language removed], he has hardly played. His attitude is fine aswell

Proper weird fans on here can't wait for him to do something wrong.

His appearance on the pitch was an embarrassment on the behalf of Martinez as well.

A footballer kicks another footballer and gets sent off. It has happened before and it will happen again. Doesn't warrant this scrutiny.
Why a player of Mirellas quality can't get a game is the big question. I would have thought he was good enough to get a game. We didn't sell him so he must have been in the manager's plans. That only leaves the player himself. Could be on his way come the next transfer window.

The tackle may have been born out of frustration that he has not been playing, but as you mention some people are reading far too much into it.

It's the fact that he's not playing, as you rightfully mention, which warrants more questions as the situation just doesn't look or feel right.

It may simply and purely be tactical a tactical decision on behalf of Martinez, with a more narrow approach as we've seen this season and before.

However, when we scored last Saturday he looked pretty bereft of any emotion. While others were celebrating, he had a huge frown on his mug.

Again that may purely be frustration that he's not on the pitch, yet it could possibly highlight that he's not fully committed to the team.

Could it suggest issues in the dressing room? There were issues last season but they seemed to be resolved; but I'm just speculating.

I think we all hoped that when Mirallas signed a new contract it would be the end to the speculation, but it seems to still be present.

We've been craving for wide players for many a year now, so it's a bit strange that we've got five (including Pienaar) but none of them play.

Having scrutinised the challenge I think it was purely a mis-timed tackle. Silly tackle, no more, no less. Kev's time will come this season.

Can anyone clarify if or not he is suspended on Tuesday?

He will be yes. Straight red for dangerous play is an instant ban for 3 first team matches.

So Reading, WBA and liverpool.

I reckon he done it cause he knew Martinez would be counting on him to do the business in the derby but he felt disrespected that he wasn't given the chance to do it at Swansea so he said "stuff 'em, let's see Naismith stick it to the rs like i do, they'll regret not playing me, i'll show them".

Was hoping to see Kev and Del line up on the flanks on Tuesday. Lennon and Del will have to do I suppose :)

Seeing it on MOTD I don't think it was a red in all honesty. Live at the game I was so far away but could see the stamping motion so knew it would be red, but there was hardly much force in it.

With the Derby falling in the 3 games there's no chance in hell they'll overturn it though.

In the run of the match I'm not certain Nais was fully aware of the touch line he was simply intent on clearing the ball. Kev always looks surly but having seen it again moments ago I'm sure it was totally intentional, a touch of revenge from another game, he owed him one from another time

Doubt he's played more than 2 mins vs madou barrow. League cup last season is the only time I can think.
Was pure frustration from the last couple of weeks.

It was just the act of lifting his foot off the ground, straightening the leg and moving forward with it with studs up over the ball and into the players ankle/foot.

Not the worst tackle you'll ever see and pretty certainly not done with intent to hurt but that kind of tackle is what can break standing legs so players should know you can't tackle like that.

Similar to Diers scissor tackle on Cleverly, even though i think that went unpunished it's that type of tackling that should be penalised because of the damage it can do.
