Kevin Mirallas

osman, kone, cleverly...All squad players - all ahead of Mirallas under el blend.

I'd like to know - Bar Lukaku - who's our most serious attacking threat? 'Cos it isn't Barkley, or Lennon, or Deulofeu, as well as the other three mentioned.

So is it niasse?

How does this relate to my post? Mirallas is a good player but he's not consistent, he is made out to be the messiah by some despite his ability to go missing quite often. Allt hree of those players mentioned have the exact same flaw, they all go missing, just Lennon still puts the effort in.

Niasse. Lol.

I can't think of many players who would be consistantly brilliant, when they only get to start ten games spread over a full season. Players need to get a run of games to find their best form and I see no reason as to why Mirallas never got that opportunity under Martinez.

Koné had two/three good games early in the season before he returned to his usual uselessness. Mirallas were our best player in several games this season (like at Anfield), though he still got put back on the bench in the following games. No wonder he got pissed, it was obviously personal. No matter how he performed, he'd never get back into the team. I actually don't blame the guy at all for being rash on some occasions, leading to red cards. I'd probably do exactly the same if I was him.

This is how it is...Who could hate him for THIS???

I could.

Oh, that picture looks good now a couple years down the line but the reality is we were trailing 2-1 to the RS when he committed that utterly mad challenge on the rat in full view of the ref.

He should have been sent off......the only reason he wasn't was because the RS doctor got in the ref's face demanding a red card be brandished.

It was an act of utter stupidity and indiscipline which on another day would have cost us even the one point we got from that game.

And we got a repeat performance against Hammers two months ago which did result in a sending off.

No problem with him hammering the rat.....but if he must do sommat like that, I wish he would try and be a bit more discreet about it ;)

Yeh I agree.

Since it looks unlikely he'll be off to the Euros, he can get a good month rest and then he'll be back in right from the start of pre-season. If he avoids injury then it'll only be a good thing.

We'll have

Kev, Del, Lennon, Barry, Besic, Niasse (lol), Baines (presuming he doesn't go), Funes-Mori all having very decent pre-season stints, plus the kids.
funes mori will be a big problem, with argentina wanting him for 2 competitions during next season. (copa liberadores and olympics)

And the rest of them are?

Like it or lump it, he's our second best attacking option. When Lukaku's unavailable, Mirallas is the biggest threat.

Don't call him on consistency when nobody else is consistent.

This thread is about Mirallas, and if you looked at my response to you, I agreed that Deulofeu, Lennon and Barkley all have the exact same flaw. At no point did I say any of the others are consistent footballers. I agree that on his game, Mirallas is our 2nd biggest threat, but he hasn't been on his game at all this year, despite his chances being relatively limited, he didn't take any oppurtunity to prove himself. The other three, while also having the same flaw, had patches of good quality. Lennon had a good spell, Deulofeu had a good spell. Barkley, well, I'm not Barkley's biggest fan, I'm really not but he's offered more than Mirallas has this season.

Hard to trust a player who's twice got two silly red cards recently.

Agree on everything, apart from the part about Barks.

Opinions though.

It's Del. Del is inconsistent but unlike our other players he still creates chances when he's playing badly. It amazed me that RM wasn't playing him more often.

He should have just told Coleman to hang back more often and let Del do his thing with the ball imo.

Interestingly enough Kone is statistically our 2nd more productive player going forwards, in ahead of Mirallas.

The figures don't back you up. You can argue that if he was played more often he would have improved his consistency and he is a good player but he hasn't been as productive as usual this season.

Felt like we'd gone down to 10 yesterday when Barkley came on, not that he's not talented, becuase he is. He's just not arsed about battling for a ball.

Last two months he's been awful mate.

Him and Lukaku went off the boil at exactly the same time, and around the time the whole squad seemed to give up on RM.

He'll get his mojo back soon enough.

14 goals and 12 assists this season. That's class.

I don't doubt his talent as those statistics prove, just question his work ethic. Doesn't fight for the team which worries me. Saw Davies was the polar opposite, couldn't work harder and battle harder and I just feel Barkley should be doing more, especailly since Barkley's built big now too.

At this point in his career, for me Del is a guy you bring on when chasing a goal at the hour mark. Can change a game in a half hour. As a pure attacking threat, he is our best "instant offense" type of guy

Mirallas should have been playing more all season. I'd love to have him stick around for next year with a new manager and see what he can do
