That is down to the form of delboy
the form of a right sided player really shouldn't/doesn't have anything to do with a left sided player.

I remember an interview with Baines last season (cba finding it) in which he was talking about how we tried to start last season by going all out to put goals past teams and one of the things he mentioned was playing with two out and out wingers (McGeady and Mirallas at the time) and how it backfired. Clearly it's something that's stuck in collective thinking of the squad, not just the manager. After say November-ish of last year, we've only ever played 2 wingers when injuries or suspensions have demanded it.

People seem to forget that for pretty much most of 13/14 we also never played with 2 wingers, it was mostly Pienaar or Osman with the other wingers being used as impact subs.
the problem wasn't the wingers tho, the problem was we were a joke at defending. Still have problems with that so it's not like you can point the finger at Kev..

I wasn't blaming him, just acknowledging that the whole reason behind the not playing 2 wingers thing was something that Baines, a senior member of the squad, mentioned with regards to the teams' defending.

Is Kev really a left sided player though? Most of his games have come for us on the right and the same for those I've watched for Belgium as well.

He played well on the left in the 433 against Arsenal at home in Martinez's first season but other than that am struggling to think of a time he's really bossed it on that side - goal vs Spurs away last season?

Was weird seeing Osman on one wing the other night showing utter invisibility while Kev was on the bench

Very good point. Osman hasn't the pace or physical strength to do anything defensively. If any one of us were in kev's boots we would be thinking. .....This manager convinced me to stay another year. He hasn't given me a fair chance on the pitch . Fair enough that spanish little c.... is flying and i cant do much bout that but now He's even playing f'in Osman in my position. I wouldn't mind if Osman was playing out of his skin but he is utter gash out there. Why keep me here if he had no intention of giving me pitch time. I'm off and who can blame me. I want to play football . I'm 28 like not 35.

We should have used him more from the bench and have started him v boro . Martinez will never get champs league with Osman etc getting game time. Never.

Never understand this Mirallas love in, when the man's just a massive bell. Good at football when he wants to be but I'm not having any of this running straight off at full time or sulking when we score and he's not on the pitch. Sure if someone like Osman did those type of things then people would be calling for him to be released or something. For me, it's against the morals of a good football club to make excuses for a fella who blatantly doesn't care for anyone at the club but himself.

He did well on the left in the derby before Suarez injured him (against an inexperienced Wisdom). But, yeah, if you're remembering one or two isolated games it probably proves your point.

When did he do this? Not denying it, just never noticed myself.

Deulofeu will do his hamstring five minutes after Mirallas leaves, and we'll be left with the other gang of clowns out wide.

It is very strange, Martinez pulls off a master stroke in convincing him to stay at the end of last season and then doesn't give him a chance to prove himself this season.
It is strange.

Nowt strange about it.

The form of Del is keeping him out.

And rightly so.
