But you're blaming a DOF who had no tools as being responsible for that. As @Saint Domingo mentioned everything is black and white with many of our fans.

Little to no budget
Club in crisis
19th in the league
Managerless
Fans chasing players down the street
Fans at war with a board under scrutiny

Kinell Kev all dat wonderful stuff going on and you still couldn't attract a top level striker to the club for buttons.

GET DAT KOPITE RAT GONE !
Much of that is at the feet of the board and owner. If they had actually backed Lampard or more likely sacked him after Bournemouth and backed the new manager we might not be here instead they did nothing as we sank and sank. The lack of proactivity is what could send us down. Look at Wolves and Villa who sacked their managers earlier and brought in a quality coach and backed the manager. And the lack of a striker to back up Dom. I have a quiet confidence Dyche can keep us up in spite of all this but it's going to be a battle because our useless club hamstrings it's own team and manager over and over!!! People might say well our financial position that didn't stop us selling Gordon earlier or using one of our loan spaces earlier they did nothing. Tweedle Bill and Tweedle Mosh fiddling while Rome burned.

Funny how Lampard didn't get those excuses. Seems like if someone is a Kopite you'll defend them to the death....

The failure to sign an adequate alternative to Calvert-Lewin over two windows is as much on Thelwell as it is anyone else.

Nobody can make excuses or defend him.

It's a massive, massive black mark against him.

Define adequate? Technically that is what Maupay was supposed to be, you have to remember that Frank wanted more pass, pass, pass football than lump it up top to the big man.

Also we have to bear in mind that any forward player coming in is going to look at the fact we play(ed) 1 up at top and we have DCL so any decent player is going to think twice about signing for us. That leads us to players who are happy to sit on the bench and be a back up, I.e. a Rondon.

People banking on a alternative to come and make a massive difference to us when DCL is unavailable are kind of being wishful imho. This might change now we have Dyche who will happily have two big forward players on the pitch at the same time.

Maupay was way, way down on the list of strikers. Broja and Adams - who at least have similarities to Dom - were the priority targets. I don't understand how they went from those two to Maupay.

Way I view it is we currently have two complete polar opposites in terms of players. We're at our best when Dom is able to play up front and Maupaty can't play that role. He offers nothing of what Dom does.

We absolutely needed a player that was more similar to Dom than Maupay.

Maupay was just a stupid signing for where we were at. Thelwell takes the blame for that. Lampard has taken the blame, remember - he got sacked. One of the decisions that cost him was the decision to co-sign off on Maupay instead of a player more similar in stature and playing style to Dom.

Interesting. You would think with FFP concerns we’d be on here

Well this doesn’t fit the narrative does it. Maybe they can show the table specifically from 2017, then take off the last two seasons where we’ve spent hardly anything and sold our best players, obviously ignore anything before that where we spent buttons for 20 years, then take out all our player sales in that period so it’s only Everton’s gross spend

FFS Everton have spent more than everyone in Europe!!!

Thelwell gained my respect from selling Gordon. Let’s see who we sign in the summer with Dyche at the helm
