What fans think about an individual player has absolutely no bearing on whether the recruitment team want to sign him. And you will rarely get common consensus within a fanbase either.

There is no defending our recruitment over the last number of years. And the mistakes have nothing to do with supporters.

Also love that list of supposedly crap players Brighton signed, 5 of them would walk in our current team, one is an actual crap player that we DID sign, and I bet they spent about £5m on all of them combined.

But you're blaming a DOF who had no tools as being responsible for that. As @Saint Domingo mentioned everything is black and white with many of our fans.

Little to no budget
Club in crisis
19th in the league
Managerless
Fans chasing players down the street
Fans at war with a board under scrutiny

Kinell Kev all dat wonderful stuff going on and you still couldn't attract a top level striker to the club for buttons.

GET DAT KOPITE RAT GONE !
There’s no need for you to get so worked up in defence of the indefensible.

We ballsed up the window.

Thelwell ought to take responsibility for that as Director of Football.

If his hands are indeed so tied that he wasn’t allowed to sign anyone, then I feel bad for him.

But he doesn’t have to sit there quietly and be made to look a mug by those above him.

I wouldn’t want to stick around if I’m being prevented from doing my job and it’s reflecting poorly on my reputation.

They’re all in better shape than us as a business. Leicester are miles better and win more than us too.

Swansea aren’t even in the PL. How are they in better shape than us? How are Leeds in a better shape than us?

Leicester do have a better squad and have won more stuff recently but for all their good recruitment, managerial philosophy etc. they are on a downwards trend and will be looking at yet another rebuild.

Are Swansea at risk of going bust in the foreseeable future if they get relegated? Are Leeds?

Thelwell needs to be given more time.

The club internally was a mess from Benitez running Brands and his staff out as he is a stubborn prick who wants to run everything himself.

Must be at least 30 new appointments to Thelwell's team of sports science , academy roles and recruitment he has brought in these last few months.

Training ground guru gives you a decent background of some of these appointments made, here is the latest on the fella from Brighton

Is Kevin the right man for the job? I don't know but he looks to be restructuring everything behind the scenes with a longterm plan.

This season will be a struggle, no denying that.

I love how it's always ALL Benitezs fault for all problems at the club. We had crap recruitment before Benitez came in and he didn't even touch the academy which has been the most overhauled department.

What recruitment team we had in place with Brands was ripped apart by Benitez because he wanted full control and quite a few people left as they didn't want to work with him.

Moving forward we need some type of structure in place that will continue to work and function no matter who the manager is.

Are we?

Seriously though?

Bust as in we’d sell all our assets and not be able to pay our creditors?

We own one and a half stadiums, and the leases for the land which they’re built on outright.

We have multiple player assets we could sell for decent fees including Pickford Godfrey Onana Iwobi Branthwaite Calvert Lewin, Moise Kean.

We have relatively little external debt as Moshiri continues to fund both the stadium and any annual losses.

We are also apparently bringing new investors on board

The only way we go bust is if Moshiri stops funding us and suddenly demands the club pays all his money back (pretty much the same risk most individually owned clubs carry)

If we go down we’d have to sell players and massively reduce expenditure as all clubs do. We’d still get the parachute payments though at first.

Yes we’re at risk of not complying with financial regulations, yes we’re at risk of making huge losses if we go down.

But I think we have a lot of levers to pull yet before we’d be at risk of completely going bust.

That recruitment team was rightly ripped apart. Unfortunately one of the two main ones has been reappointed and got back on with signing dross - or no one at all. Let's not pretend Benitez burned down a state of the art recruitment team. It was a team thar continually wasted money and unearthed nothing

The second part I agree with but Benitez done us a favour driving Brands and Co out.

Hmmmmm. Glad that’s definitely 100% not going to happen then.

Disappointed in the silent routine from this guy. I know he’s probably under orders however he barely spoke publicly before the protests. People forget these are well paid roles, can’t they take some accountability?

Out of a matter of interest, how many other Directors of Football are you aware of who front up as the face of problems at a club when criticism is flying around?
