Agree but according to reports he was the one who worked for weeks on Danjuma only for him to snub us at the last minute and apparently he wasn't given a budget on transfers or wages to secure anyone of quality. Until we are scrambling on deadline day. So it's probably on the board and owner if (as much) if not more than this fella. Brands also had his wings clipped.
The Danjuma deal was agreed nearly 2 weeks before deadline day so he definitely had a budget. It's possible to work on more than one target at the same time

A loan deal that would have cost buttons to secure.

Hardly a warchest mate.

There was no good level CF available this January and if he had signed another Maupay just for the sake of bringing in "another striker" fans would have been wetting der sheets (see reaction to Ayew rumours).

Have faith in the process.

Your post is self-contradictory.

If a loan deal would have cost buttons to secure, then we should have secured another one when Danjuma fell through.

If it's buttons, then who cares if they end up as a dud for a few months?

I'd rather take that gamble than rely on the fresh air that we did sign.

Have faith in the process of weakening the squad and eventually becoming better mate.

It isn't contradictory - Danjuma is a good player but one of questionable atittude hence why his parent club let him leave - not many £30 million rated players are available on loan in January.

Name me a good striker who was available in January who would have joined a club in crisis in the bottom 3 (and also cost just a few quid).

Ayew
Chris Wood
Some 6ft 7 galoot from the mainland who looked like he couldn't trap a bag of wet cement.

The only three who were linked to us and our fans would have kicked off had we signed any of em.

"Get a striker in Kev"

"FFS not dat one Kev"

The only ones who contradict themselves are the fans who constantly whine online no matter what the club does or doesnt do.

‘Why aren’t we like Brighton though?!!!’

Can you imagine the fume on here if anyone at Everton went out and bought Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy, Maupay, Danny Welbeck, Veltman, Lallana, Solly March, Pascal Gross,

It was only a few months ago people were moaning about us being linked to Billy Gilmour then Brighton went and bought him!

There’s no doubt that Brighton have recently bought some very good players Mitouma, Trossard, Lamptey, Ben White, Bissouma, Caicedo, Mcallister

But there’s also quite a bit of dross in that squad that successive managers have managed to get into their teams so the sum is greater than the parts.

They also didn’t panic during the seasons Potter had them in a relegation battle and they didn’t look they could score.

It’s just so black and white on here. Everton are absolutely crap at everything whilst *insert any flavour of the month mid table club here..are absolute geniuses and are working to a long term plan and philosophy and don’t make any mistakes and we should be doing that

How’s that long term plan working out at Swansea? When they were definitely going to go past us because they’d gone from Martinez to Rodgers to Laudrup and it was all planned and joined up.

What about Wolves? A load of boss managers all following the one philosophy and a clear recruitment style

Then everyone’s favourites of yesteryear Leicester - sustainable recruitment and progressive football

Or how about Southampton? Haven’t they had the best academy in ages and gone out and bought young players?

Then there was Leeds with their well coached Bielsa ball

Why can’t Everton be like all these teams who don’t make any mistakes and nothing ever goes wrong for them

The reality is that Brighton can do whatever they like recruitment wise, they can get whatever hipster manager in they want, it won’t make a darn bit of difference. If they have the season of a lifetime they might make europa league football. Mitoma Caicedo and McAllister will be off in the next few windows and they’ll be starting all over again. Great from an accounting point of view but apart from avoiding relegation it’s absolutely no different. They’ll never compete at the top and eventually their fans will realise that. Then there’ll be a season when they make a mistake with recruitment, or get the wrong manager in, or have too many injuries, and no amount of good progressive planning will stop them being flushed like every single other non sky six team has in prem history.

With the exception of one….

That crap team in blue who can’t ever do anything right and should try and be more like all these other teams.

Luckily it's not my job to sign players for Everton. I'd be terrible at it, as we all would.

The January transfer window was unquestionably a failure.

To argue against that is to argue black is white.

Erm yes, why can’t Everton be like those upwardly mobile modern football clubs that don’t get worse every single year and lose a fortune. Outrageous. They should look to be more like Everton.

What fans think about an individual player has absolutely no bearing on whether the recruitment team want to sign him. And you will rarely get common consensus within a fanbase either.

There is no defending our recruitment over the last number of years. And the mistakes have nothing to do with supporters.

But you're blaming a DOF who had no tools as being responsible for that. As @Saint Domingo mentioned everything is black and white with many of our fans.

Little to no budget
Club in crisis
19th in the league
Managerless
Fans chasing players down the street
Fans at war with a board under scrutiny

Kinell Kev all dat wonderful stuff going on and you still couldn't attract a top level striker to the club for buttons.
