I still totally disagree that going after defenders and midfielders was priority. You need goals to stay in this league. I said it all summer so its not hindsight.

Lots of the sides at the bottom in recent years have been at least average defensively, Burnley being a prime example. If you do not have the ability to score goals and carry a threat it means you are relying on pretty much perfection in defence every week and that's totally unsustainable.

I'm not ignoring the fact we are a bit better at the back and across the middle of the pitch. I just dont agree that was ever going to be something that translated into winning more points and moving away from safety. Prioritising other positions and refusing to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison is exactly why we are in huge trouble. Not replacing Gordon just made things even more difficult.
The issue, Tim, was that we weren't average: we were often diabolical in both areas. That was our problem last year, so it was their priority.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have looked at addressing the forward line, but replacing Richarlison and Dom alone may have likely left us with the same problems.

It's not a situation of one or the other - it's not two-dimensional. We should have done all three, but instead we chose two. That's why we're in this mess.

Because he said there strikers with a good goalscoring record who we could afford.

I just asked who he thought these strikers were as we have no money.

Looks like the best about was a unit from Belgium and a lad from france whos done not very much and is in his late mid to late 20s.

Tells me all I need to know.

Maupay is better than both of them.

So £16m Maupay would been a better option than this lad on a cheap loan? Don’t make me laugh. Clueless poster.

100% not. He’s also not better than Gyokeres at Coventry who would’ve cost a similar amount or less. Maupay is absolutely useless, he doesn’t have a single attribute to offer a Premier League team. There’s a reason Brighton improved and shot up the table pretty much instantly as soon as they bombed him out of the team for a bang average Danny Welbeck.

Not correct. We left if that long we came across as desperate so agents and club's upped prices. Additionally we didn't want to spend any money and wanted small installments up front and cover over years.

We ended up last minute asking Giroud if he wanted to come on loan...and asking Watford for Sarr for a £6mill loan fee
Until we sold Gordon we were only looking at loans as we have no money, this club makes no money and we have zero room left to spend on wages either.

I'm not saying i rate the players, but we've won plenty of games using Holgate or Davies or Godfrey etc. We cannot win games regularly when we are totally unable to get more than 1 goal in a game.

We will never put together a run of results while we are so toothless. Its not bad luck either that we dont score enough, its due to having players who are out of their depth at this level.

Goals win games. Otherwise you are relying on perfection in defence and its not like we signed Cannavarro or Maldini. We just made small incremental improvements in defence.

How can a DOF not be involved directly in scouting players. How can you oversee recruitment without being involved? Isn't scouting a crucial part of the job?
What do I know? Just looking at the title of those recent appointments. I'm guessing he will manage the situations systemically with directives in place but the individual aspects left to others.

The reality is our financial situation meant we had to sign PL experience - near every player from Germany has flopped in the PL bar Haaland who is a freak - Keita, Werner, Pulisic, Havertz, Joelinton, Sancho etc.

Maupay had 16 goals in his last 2 seasons - I didnt like the signing as he isn't like for like with DCL but maybe the plan was to go 352 ? Remember we started the season with 3 at the back then Lampard changed it to 433 after about 3 games.

Dyche is the sort of manager who knows what he wants - judge the DOF after next seasons business as the current one was dogged by poor inexperienced management unsure of what system/style to play and devotion to both a crock CF and a weasel wide player who wanted gone.

They weren't. Kudus refused to train as he wanted to come, Mudryk would've been sold if we'd upped the bid from £30mill to £40mill. Both ended up shining in the champos league and their price doubled.
Kudus's transfer got blocked by Ajax, not by us though? He also missed about 1 training session near deadline day lol and has admitted that he just had a ton to deal with as he had to actually deal with the transfer things and apparently had told his coach that.

Ajax dropped the deal cuz we wanted to cheap out and do a loan with an obligation or option to buy, not outright buy.

We'd have loved Kudus here - he barely plays full games ever and has already gotten seriously injured several times. The Everton curse would've meant he plays 5 mins and is injured for 4 months.

Same with Mudryk, as in blocked by Shakhtar. On Mudryk, as per Romano and Dario Srna:
Romano told the Que Golazo podcast that while they tried to sign him with a bid of €30m plus add-ons, the Ukrainian club rejected the bid after they saw Manchester United sign Antony for around €100m (£85m).

He said: “They received a proposal on the final week of the transfer window – €30m plus add-ons from Everton – and they decided to say no after Antony [went] to Man United for €100m. They said for us, Mudryk can’t be sold for 30 or 35 or 40 [million]. We want way more than this.

“They’re convinced they’re going to sell him for crazy, crazy money.”
Literally nothing to do with offering 10 mil more, they wanted easily double that. They also got easily double that.

Nobody wanted to come to us though unless you know different? Also we can't force another team to give us their player just because we are desperate. we are being hampered by our finances which are still a massive stranglehold around us, yes it's very frustrating but it's due to the chronic mismanagement from above.

What about the start of the season when Everton didnt have a single option to select a recognised striker to put on the pitch against Chelsea. I have rarely seen anything like that at this level of football.
