A bit off topic, but I've never swayed from the opinion that the Moshiri era could have been successful if he had just let Marcel Brands run the footballing side of things without interference.

And put a competent board in place.
Spot on, Moshiri interfering, this has been going on for years, long before Thelwell turned up, this is why Kev T is no more responsible for this current mess than Sean Dyche.
This goes back 5 or 6 years, can't blame those who turn up only for the final hours of the clubs top flight life.

100% agree
His buy them young on lower wages with resale value model was exactly what we needed and still do
I don't know about that. Plenty of Brands's signings have been expensive albatrosses around the club's neck, yet he doesn't get anywhere near as much criticism as Walsh did.

His time was filled with players coming in on big contracts, often for fees in excess of £20m, with many of them leaving (or due to leave) for nothing or as good as.

Bernard, Gomes, Mina, Doucoure, Godfrey, Delph, Gbamin, Kean*, Allan, Iwobi...

Brands had more than enough resources available to put a competitive side together, but in the end he got nowhere near.

*I know he's now been sold for something like what we paid, but I'd have preferred to spend that money on somebody who contributed.

our biggest weakness for years has been poor technical players, we have players that even clubs from the lower leagues wouldn't take because they are so poor at passing, dribbling and decision making

we finally get someone with really good technical ability in rodriguez and we ruin it by hiring benitez and hounding him out of the club

our midfield and full backs now - so weak, they don't know how to retain possession

Four main ones for me...

Martinez was sacked playing a way that requires top players. If we'd kept him and brought in some top players behind Lukaku...who knows.

Silva was sacked as we sold Gana and his replacements were crocked. If Brands had signed someone else (Gbamin wasnt fully fit when joining) then who knows?

If we had signed Van Dijk instead of Funes Mori then he and Stones at the back and Lukaku up top could have been a good start to a rebuild.

Hiring Koeman in the first place was one of the most stupid things ive ever seen in football. To then give him a huge amount of money was disturbing.

So much opportunity over the years frittered away.

Seeing Garner and Onana for Forest and Belgium, they know how to play the game...it falls down with Gana or Iwobi, Doucoure or Gray.

At full back Dyche played Holgate as hes experienced and can play a "good long pass"...Godfrey due to "experience"...

The main issue we have had is going from manager to manager who use different styles.

Moyes to Martinez.
Martinez to Koeman
Etc etc

Benitez to Lampard to Dyche

We bounce between managers who literally have the opposite styles of play instead of continuing down one path.

They were bought in his time, but we know now that he didn't necessarily bring them all in. He mentioned Allan just yesterday was against his wishes.

The main issues is that it's been a hotchpotch of player types and styles. If he had been allowed to build something with Silva and without interference from Moshiri and Kenwright we wouldn't be in this mess.

It goes back even longer. BK is known to interfere too. He brought Ferguson and Jeffers back to the club without the managers’ blessings. I could imagine it was the same with Rooney too and who knows who else. They’re both as bad was each other mate

Well, we know he says none of the signings were his fault, and that he wanted all the players who went on to do well elsewhere.

Makes me wonder why he was happy to renew his contract.

is there anyone at the club in a high position who is actually competent at there job ? not many clubs can’t boast there chairman, board ,owner, ceo , dof , manager and 85 percent of players are shabite at there job

Brands (the midget man) is the main reason that Everton will play championship football for a few years. The guy didn't have a clue and brought all the crap possible. Did buy Gbamin instead of Guimares...

If I was in a ridiculously paid job, I wouldn't give a hoot so long as the money kept rolling in. Of course he's going to sign it. What you need to realise is the ridiculous contracts handed out by Everton include a large percentage of "hush money", or in current terms NDA's.
