Lampard pushed for Maupay and wanted his team building around DCL who we all knew wouldn't stay fit mate.

Whilst a CF would have been nice in January the questions raised are:

1. Did we have the money to sign a decent one ?

2. Where there any decent ones out there available who wanted to join a club in a relegation scrap in between manager appointments and a fanbase at war with the clubs board ?

Saints spent £40-50m on that tall Paul and the winger we were linked with and Wolves loaned Cunha and have to fork out €44m to sign him permanently and none of them did anything of note.

There is a shortage in world football of quality strikers truth be told and I dont think in January we would have signed anyone worth the fee we would have had to have paid imo other than Ings who apparently wouldn't entertain a move ere.

Lampard was an absolutely woeful Manager mate and i very much doubt he had a say in any of the signings and if he did then it would be wrong.

Nothing you have said excuses the DOF not doing the job he is being paid to do. Even the crap owner himself said we would get a striker in January but Kevin and good times Bill completely fecked it up like they always do. Even the crap teams around us managed to bring players in. Bill and Ben gambled and left everything till the last few days and bolloxed it all up, even the dregs. It was self inflicted abysmal performances from them all and we nearly got relegated because of it.

Both of them should have gone when curly, larry and mo went. Bill wrangled a short reprieve and the same will go for Thelwell unless he does his job properly. Nowhere near good enough. Need to see action this week and onwards to give Dyche exactly what he wants and needs with time to spare to be able to do his job and make us competitive again.

Redknapp isn't an EFC employee Megaton therefore its Lampard's job as EFC Manager to use his common sense and tell Redknapp to stop talking nonsense.

Most of our failures on the pitch / recruitment have been down to the tory clown these past 18 months. Its why I am confident under Thewell/Dyche the only way for now is up.

Dele Ali was sorted out between Spurs Chairman and Kenwright in a fancy London Restaurant to my knowledge, I'm sure Harry bloody Redknapp had his oar in it too. Sure Frank arrived as thd week they were finalising it, don't think Frank had much choice on that one.

Thelwell is as much to blame for not being man enough to stand up to his paymasters and insist on bringing players in in January. We were incredibly lucky that decision didn’t cost us our league place in May

If memory serves on that one…HR was interviewed after we had signed Ali and he said he had called FL to advise him to have a go at signing him and FL said the process was already underway.
