Mr Invisible playing upfront has been exceptionalAnyone else feel that the more stick Thelwell gets the more they look back on his signings and have a double take?
Only Maupay and a Vinagre loan have been actual failures.
But they are pretty good failures to be fair.Anyone else feel that the more stick Thelwell gets the more they look back on his signings and have a double take?

I'm the one asking you for facts, don't give me the whataboutism here
In the current game, the Head Coach has an awful lot of complexity; as well as being busy. In my opinion, you definitely need a DoF. You're spot-on, mate.If the DoF model doesn’t work for us then neither will the managers buying the players work either because both processes suffer with some of our board members being too cosy with agents or influencers and they interfere too much.
It doesn't matter what policy you choose to follow (DoF or manager + head of recruitment) neither is going to work when you have a guy like Kenwright in the background who wants the final say on transfers, and even more so when you have a chancer like Joorabchian hovering in the background. It hasn’t worked at Everton, certainly.
But the problem isn’t with the concept, it’s with the execution.
Either we’ve recruited the wrong DoFs, or they’ve been inhibited from doing their jobs – or both.
Putting the manager in charge of all transfers only works if they are capable of it, and only if they are given the chance to build and manage their team over more seasons than most are given in the modern game.
I’d argue that managers no longer have the time or space to build a squad to play their way. Instead, it’s incumbent on clubs to separately curate their squads and find managers to fit the club’s identified playing style.
For that, the DoF system needs to be made to work - and that’s exactly what we’ve failed to do.
It doesn't work at all at Everton as we are a terribly run football club, where owner and chairman don't give the DOF the tools and authority to do their job properly. The DoF model doesn’t work at all imo
I don’t think you know what evidence isAnd I've given one more piece of evidence than anyone else has given back therefore the debate has been won (once again) by FB92.
(Insults & middle fingers are not considered factual evidence m'lord).
There’s 2 positivity camps with Thelwell. The people saying that he made some good signings last season are aware the club were nearly relegated for the second time in two years on the last day of the season aren’t they?
I’ve said many times on here you can’t have a DoF and then let managers cherry pick certain players, that’s why where we are today. The DoF model doesn’t work at all imo
