I don't think he can do anything without the Gordon money!

Everything is in place but he does not have any money.

…so we‘re going into the season without an effective central attacker and Thelwell has £20m to spend, so he decides it all goes on McNeil.

That was very smart planning, especially when he then brought in another left sided player on a free.

If he isn't banging down the doors of those who do negotiate to insist on the signing of serious reinforcements - and subsequently get serious reinforcements, well, it'll most certainly be about him.

Because he will be their patsy. And frankly, he'll deserve to be.
Well I get the same vibes when Koeman was bleating on he needed a Centre forward after Lukaku left.
Remember "Giroud in the building"

Lampard has been saying for weeks we need strikers and being as diplomatic as he can infront of camera's.
This isn't on him.

Nothing has changed.

Then matching Forests bid for Gibbs White.
While every man and his dog knows what was needed.

Failure to plan ......as they say.

Thelwell just identifies the targets, we have our special "technical board" of Kenwright + DBB who deal with the negotiations. With us I can well imagine an inability to cope with more than one deal at a time tbh.

…he looks as fed up with the situation as the fans.
He seems very frustrated with the situation. But I am not buying that he's not been involved in the recruitment process at all. I mean it's only my opinion and I could be wrong. But it would be strange if BK and Thelwell are just operating completely above his head.

Diplomatic doesn't cut it. Could you imagine Mourinho being diplomatic?

Frank's continued employment will utterly depend on getting a proper striker in. If he's calm and sanguine about that before the window closes, then it's most definitely on him if he is "let down."

No sympathy from me if he sleepwalks into being scapegoated. As I said, he'll deserve what will inevitably come to him if he naively trusts the charlatans that run the club. His predecessor seemed, somehow, to swallow a 1.7m spend last summer - and we all saw how much sympathy the hierarchy had for him when the pressure came on.

So, let's have no bleating after the event from Lampard. The time to scream is now. And that, most certainly, is on him.

There are people chucking blame all over, without any of us having a clue as to what's actually going on.

Some people have convinced themselves Thelwell is to blame.

Others that it's all Kenwright's fault.

But we have no idea how any of these parts fit together behind the scenes. The way Everton works is a puzzling, impenetrable tub of grey goo.

For that reason, I think the only person it makes sense to blame is the guy at the top. This is Moshiri's show, and he's ultimately accountable for everything that happens at Everton - including this lack of clarity on accountability.

What Moshiri is guilty of is being an absent owner, apparently he's took a step back this transfer window and it has been broadcast that it's Kenwright and Thelwell show with Frank being veto to whoever they come up with. Now whether this was decided during the internal review is anyone's guess. Sorry haven't got a better source than the Echo, that's where I've heard it from so take it or leave it.

He can be as quiet as a mouse or he can shout it from the rooftops , it makes no difference whatsoever.
He is not the DOF nor is he the greaseball doing the haggling.

He will have been part of the identifying process and may even get involved with a phone call with incoming players and that's about it.
And as it should be BTW.

Letting managers pick every player that takes their fancy is what got us into this financial mess we are in.

Purely down to Thelwell & Kenwright.
